European Union Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker announced Thursday that the bloc plans to reactivate a law that would seek to block European companies from complying with any sanctions the US would reintroduce against Iran.
Junckers announcement came during the second day of an EU meeting in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, which had already been marked by sharp criticism from European leaders over American President Donald Trumps decision to pull the US out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. [ ]
German-headquartered insurance firm Allianz and Danish shopping company Maersk have already said they plan to close operations in Iran in order to avoid getting hit by reintroduced US sanctions.
The 1996 legislation leaves it up to each EU member state to determine the sanctions to be imposed in the event of breach of any relevant provisions of this Regulation, adding that such sanctions must be effective, proportional and dissuasive.
European companies with large operations in the US are putting pressure on their governments to grant them individual waivers.

These fireworks are going to be fun.
the EUroNazi regime in Brussels, etc... needs to be terminated. ASAP. its selling out the several European countries to the IslamoNazi invasion, and now its selling out western technology and finances to the Iranian IslamoNazi dictators.... selling, selling, SOLD (out)!
very dangerous people in Brussels EuroNazi HQ, very dangerous
The socialist EU supporting a major enemy of the free Western world. These fools need an attitude adjustment...like being made to DEFEND THEMSELVES against Russia, for starters.
They’ve been cooperating with Russia in a sub-rosa manner for a decade now. How else do you think we got that JCPOA in the first place? The “plus one” in the P5+1 is Germany.
I’ve been driving German cars for years and I’m now in the market for a new car.The lousy, stinking attitudes of various European leaders, including in this story, have caused me to decide against another European car.
Maybe America should reevaluate NATO
Yes. Euronazis are at least 20% enemy. At least China and their ZTE is 5% friend.
We need to bring all of our Troops and equipment home, every last pfennigs worth. Even if it costs more than it’s worth to bring it home. We don’t leave anything of any value what so ever in Europe. It’s time we remind them who wears the big boy pants in this world!
And bulldoze and smash anything we can’t move. Don’t leave them anything of any value at all. Can you imagine how much our troops and their dependents spend yearly in Europe. Oh how I’d love to take that from the ungrateful dicks.

Thank the Lord this President has followed the Diplomad's long-standing foreign policy dictum, "Do not listen to the Europeans,"[T]he surest way to lose American lives and treasure is to listen to the Europeans. Europe has not gotten anything right on the world stage since, well, since . . . well, since at least the French Revolution.
Clinton gave control of NATO to the EU in the 1990s, by doing their bidding in Bosnia. NATO was never meant to be a tool for EU expansion.
They even screwed that up...
That’s exactly what the EU wants. They’re more than ready to fill the vacuum with their own forces and to crush individual governments, and then become an expansionary force into Africa and even South America. Why give them what they want?
With allies like this, who needs enemies.
Sounds like this will be of no effect whatsoever...
“I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part! “
Bingo! Said it for years.
Believe me, the guy was hammered in the comments for saying that.

Sorry esteemed host, but in this you are quite wrong. The French Revolution resulted in a conveyor-belt murder orgy, one of the favorite past times of socialists. And like all past-times of socialists, it is always wrong.
If you want an example of the last thing Continental Europe got right, you're looking at either The Spanish Reconquista or The Gates of Vienna, though the latter was a last minute save from the standard Euro FUBAR.
Slap a 100% tariff on luxury European goods.
Tell them it will go when they halt all contact with the Mullah regime.
Personally, I can’t get mad by this. No one would like it if the EU told Americans who they could and could not do business with, so I don’t see why businesses there are supposed to happily and voluntarily lose money because the U.S. said so.
