One month later — Cohen’s financial documents are leaked to the porn star’s shady attorney.
The Treasury Department’s inspector general is investigating how Stormy Daniels’s lawyer Michael Avenatti obtained confidential banking records concerning a company controlled by President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen.
A law enforcement official has admitted to leaking Cohen’s bank records.
The name of the leaker is being withheld from the public.

Those Weiner emails have probably been packaged, securitized and repackaged as blackmail material all over the dark web—sort of like what the investment bankers did (and still do?) with high risk home mortgages. ;-)

Some of it may be outside the US. But this leak is very likely within the US. But appears to feel protected.

That is credible. I read some time ago about Cohen's business operation. It was on reddit, but it was believeable. It hinted about his methods of hiding financial transactions. He is not a dummy. And you are correct, the Special Prosecutor is capable of fabricating and the plotters at the DOJ and FBI have clearly already done that with the Dossier.

Now the question? Who is paying the porn actress’s attorney fees? I’m sure that is being examined. I read he was under investigation. From what we know about his past, that should be very interesting.

It seems that all they need do is simply resign. For some nonsensical reason, prosecution stops upon a resignation.

Is he stepping forward out of guilt, or to try to stop investigations from looking any deeper - like who’s behind/above him in the motive for the leak?
I cannot see stepping forward will stop anything unless he has immunity or is a foreign agent.
