Trump's national security adviser believes summit will still happen

President Donald Trump's national security adviser, John Bolton, told a radio host Wednesday he believes the summit with Kim Jong Un will happen, despite recent threats from North Korea to withdraw.

Bolton told Fox Radio's Brian Kilmeade that he spoke early Wednesday with his South Korean counterpart to tick through the possible reasons for the warnings issued by Pyongyang. On Wednesday, the President was briefed on additional statements from North Korea's disarmament negotiator rejecting the US call for immediate nuclear disarmament and going after Bolton himself....

Lindsey Graham with some super tough talk on Fox tonight basically threatening KJU with war if he meets with Trump then decides not to de-nuclearize.

I think Bolton mouthing off almost queered the deal. Asians don't like to lose face, and you gain nothing by causing them to lose face. The way to deal with Rocket Man is to cajole him into doing your bidding while making him think it's all his idea. Publicly treating him with disrespect is always going to backfire.

Disclaimer, Bolton is generally pretty smart so there might be some method to his madness.

Agreed, this is drama to save face (very important in all Asian cultures). Negotiations have been going on for months and will proceed.

I think it will happen. Lindsey Graham is a little confusing, but I think he, like a lot of the GOP, is coming around to Trump because they suddenly see that Trump is real. He’s not a politically motivated poseur, he simply is what he is, and some of the weaker pols (such as Graham) are suddenly feeling very invigorated by actually having a leader.

Talking to somebody from SC today...said think about having Nikki Haley as Prez and Tim Scott as VP. Total SC takeover! The South has won, well, sort of....
