Teaching bears to wave is probably right in there with habituating them :-(

I thought my cat to wave. It’s actually a pretty easy trick to teach. And I suppose bears could be trained with clicker training, just like everybody else. Although I would be afraid those bears would eat me if I didntgive them their treat fast enough! I think the Bears do the training :-)

When I was training cotton, there were two or three cat Training books on Amazon, with millions of dog books. The best book said you don’t train a cat like a dog, you realize that the cat is going to train you and they’re going to figure out what trick they have to do to make you give them a treat. Totally different mindset. Once you realize that you can begin to pretend you are training them.

A friend and I saw a black bear from my back porch one night (below us in the canyon) and got in the truck to go and see it up (sorta!) close.

Sure enough, we found it because we heard it in a restaurant dumpster.

When we parked with our lights on the dumpster the bear popped up with one of those humongous styrofoam cups hanging in his mouth! Lol!

We were watching from just a few feet away still inside the truck and, man, there’s no way I want to come across one of those things when I take the dogs out at night!

I'm having a serious problem with a Hawk now. He has hit our window three times this week. Thankfully he hasn't been hurt but it really has our inside cats upset..and the yelling he makes when he hits and flies up on my truck afterwards. Today he dive bombed the house several times before leaving.

Today my blinds were closed inside my windows and the other two days they weren't so it make no difference open or close. I really need HELP figuring out how to stop him.

there are so many beautiful places in the United States. And each state has its own special beauty and personality. It was really hard to pin down where we wanted to move to, I ended up having a big spreadsheet with all sorts of numbers – property taxes, state income tax, demographics, average summer and winter temperatures, voting records, it was so overwhelming I wanted to look at all the states on one page. Of course that doesn’t include the emotional impact, the beauty or just how we feel about a place. I suppose we would’ve been happy anywhere, after being in the middle of Mexifornia- The invasion was complete. Actually I think any non-border state would’ve been good. Maybe not the liberal one so much though, although there are conservative enclaves. Kern county in California was very much conservative, but unfortunately still affected by the Sacramento laws and by the invasion. We had like minded people around and that was important.

The only problem is that they are at the end of a street that is a T, peeps get going too fast and 2 winters in a row have skidded right into them with, as you can imagine, not a good result.

Picture only shows half of them, there is another set.

It took him several years to make them all, they all have names and are doing different things, like Randi the cook, Sparky the firefighter, Biff the snowboarder, ect. Really cute. Biff got taken out by a car and Mel, his creater, put a cast on his leg and encourage everyone to drop by and sign his cast. LOL

Quite a tourist attraction!
