The Never Trumpers are retiring in dozens, led by Messrs. Ryan, Flake, Corker, and the ailing John McCain (who helped stoke up the Russian-collusion fraud and called Mr. Trump’s Arizona supporters “crazies”). The president has risen fairly steadily in the polls to between 45% and 50%, and ahead of where President Obama was eight years ago, despite the most intensive press sandbag-job since that which overwhelmed Richard Nixon in 1973–74.
Support for the Mueller investigation is steadily declining. The president’s approval rating is more than twice that of Congress and almost thrice the press’s. The White House Correspondents Dinner last week was a self-destructively embarrassing disgrace.
It is easy to find Donald Trump distasteful. Those who do, though, should not only recognize the emerging correlation of forces and the President’s policy successes, but be aware also that before he was president, he accomplished more than any previous occupant of that office other than Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Grant, and Eisenhower. The longer his enemies try, in their snobbery and partisan spite, to criminalize policy differences, the more bone-crushing will be their defeat. They have sown, and they shall reap.

Good summary of the current situation. Conrad Black is always worth reading.
Theodore was New York City Police Commissioner, where he is credited with totally transforming it, Governor of New York State, Deputy Secretary of the Navy(which he overhauled and greatly enhanced). Not to mention Theodore and his Rough Riders and their great adventure in Cuba. On top of that he is one of the greatest naturalists this country has ever seen. His exploration of the Amazon alone, which nearly cost him his life, stands(together wit his huge scientific and expedition to Africa) as some of he greatest geographic/scientific achievements of his generation.
In fact whether he’d been president or not, Theodore would stand as one of the greatest Americans that ever lived.
Grant’s life is an all time great story.
He was an alcoholic, but in all probability quit long before the Civil War.
His habit during the War was cigar smoking.
Calling him a drunk shows you know very little about his life.
DJT was my last choice among the early Republican field. I thought he was a big mouth, a braggart, and a New York Real Estate Developer, playboy, billionaire so he has GOT to have illegality in spades up his sleeve.
And who with those creds could stand up to the left ops that the Democrats would unleash on them?
I have to say considering all the illegal spying done on Trump and his top officials, the guy is squeaky clean. Whodda thought a New Your Billionaire Playboy would be so clean, like a vestal virgin?

Same here. My main concerns were his NY personality, and the danger of starting a trend of nominating celebrities and the hyper-wealthy. Those problems are still present, but the massive benefits to the nation of the Trump Presidency have made me more than happy to admit that I should have been on the bandwagon sooner.
Rush discussed something similar the other day where Grant was practically the only Presidential business fellow Trump has.

Read Grant’s memoirs. He was a very good writer, and the story is enjoyable. It only takes a few hours to read.
Grant wrote them as he was dying from throat cancer so his wife would have money. They were published by Mark Twain.

And Grant succeeded. His two-volume autobiography was a best seller and made his family a great deal of money.
I have one volume of the original set from the 1880’s in mint condition. I will eventually find it’s companion volume.
At the time there was no presidential pension and no Secret Service protection.
That came later.
