The great things about liberals is that even though most have never run a business, they all know exactly how businesses should be run. It's as if all those courses they took at Amherst or Yale on women's studies, art history, and neo-colonialism gave them an intuitive sense for market forces, and exactly how much businesses should pay employees, exactly how much in taxes businesses should pay, and how to run every aspect of their companies.
It's hardly surprising, then, to find an exposé in the Washington Post focusing on Fox News commentator Sean Hannity. Hannity spent millions of dollars to buy ownership in over a thousand rental properties, and then, once he acquired ownership, he started evicting tenants left and right – all for the "crime" of not paying rent! How bizarre is that? When Sean Hannity invested millions of dollars in rental properties, he actually expected the tenants to pay rent to him!
Liberals, of course, know that this is immoral and scandalous – the economic equivalent of keeping a "brown slave" like Eric Schneiderman or sexting while babysitting like Anthony Weiner.
Here's what the intrepid business experts at the WaPo uncovered:
[A] Washington Post analysis shows that managers at Hannity's four largest apartment complexes in Georgia have taken an unusually aggressive approach to rent collection. They have sought court-ordered evictions at twice the statewide rate – in a state known for high numbers of evictions and landlord-friendly laws – and frequently have done so less than two weeks after a missed payment.
All good points! Rental properties like Hannity's are exactly the same as all other rental properties in Georgia, therefore the eviction rate should be exactly the same. The WaPo knows this because, well, it just does is!

“repeatedly evicting tenants who paid no rent”
Does this mean he kept letting them back so they could get kicked out again?
The HORROR! Next you’ll be telling me he has cars towed that illegal park in his parking space?!?
Sheesh.
Liberalism is a mental disease.

How pathetic is this hatchet job by WaPo? So pathetic even the comments at the WaPo site are calling it out.
Not pay rent and you get evicted? Someone call Mueller!
If you don’t have the heart to evict non-payers, you can’t be in the rental business. You need a manager or management company that deals with this kind of thing all the time; they know when to cut someone some slack and when to draw a hard line. Chronic non-payers don’t change. And they are usually a problem to their neighbors, your other (good) tenants. You do no one a favor when you put up with them.
Lots of people live paycheck to paycheck.
They max out credit cards and when the inevitable crises comes, they complain about how cruel the world is.
I knew a woman who was pretty good with money... except for her kids who were spendthrifts, alway buying beyond their means. Then she would bail them out. This left her without savings.
The cycle just repeated and repeated.

I had no idea until the recent hit pieces that Hannity had such extensive real estate holdings.
I could never be a landlord, even with a property manager.
"In due time, Mr. Micawbers petition was ripe for hearing; and that gentleman was ordered to be discharged under the Act, to my great joy. His creditors were not implacable; and Mrs. Micawber informed me that even the revengeful boot-maker had declared in open court that he bore him no malice, but that when money was owing to him he liked to be paid. He said he thought it was human nature."
Does the WaPo keep running ads if not paid for?
“they get tired of dealing with deadbeat tenants.”
To be more specific, they get tired of dealing with the asinine LAWS that force them to “deal” with deadbeats, rather than tossing them out as is perfectly moral to do.
My parents had a couple houses to rent in Baltimore. Yeesh.
If you took a national poll you’d be shocked how many people would say Hannity is wrong to do this.
People who don’t pay rent get evicted.
That’s how it works.
Michael Brown didn't pay for his Swisher Sweets. Why should you have to pay for your beer?
They blame Hannity.
He actually has no contact with renters. He just has a stake in the financing of the properties.
The renters have a relationship with the property managers, who are just doing their job.
He’s doing them a favor by throwing them out. Teaching them to fish. Life lesson. Of course, the whiney group still wants their free fish fried up and presented to them with a side of slaw, a dinner roll and an ice cold beer.
My dad managed a multistory rental property when I was a kid, and I used to have to help him on occasion.
He would go in with a bunch of trash bags, load all the delinquent tenant’s possessions into the bags, change the lock, and put them out in front of the building.
I found it to be a depressing process, and my dad didn’t like doing it, but in that type of thing, either the landlord goes broke over time, or the delinquent tenants get evicted.
Other rentalsare more expensive in investment, and in rent.... these are more likely to be paid monthly without stress and demand letters, because you get a different type of renter. It depends on who you want to "be in business with." Me personally... I would rather own a few that pay higher rent from people who actually have the money to pay.
Sounds like he decided to be a slum lord. That's his business decision.
