Republican Sen. John McCain says former President Obama called to thank him after his dramatic vote against his party’s Obamacare repeal bill last year.
In a copy of his forthcoming book, “The Restless Wave,” obtained by the Daily Beast, McCain said he appreciated the call from Obama. The two ran against each other in the 2008 presidential election.
“Among the people who called to thank me was President Obama,” McCain writes. “I appreciated the call, but, as I said, my purpose hadn’t been to preserve his signature accomplishment but to insist on a better alternative, and to give the Senate an opportunity to work together to find one.”
Before McCain turned his thumb down to signal his no vote, he received a call from President Trump urging him to support the bill. The call came after Vice President Mike Pence tried to lobby McCain on the Senate floor to vote with their party. Obama didn’t call ahead of the vote to try to sway McCain’s vote, the senator said.
“He hadn’t called to lobby me before the vote, which I had appreciated. He had last called me not long after the November election, during the transition to the Trump administration, to congratulate me on my reelection. He added that he was counting on me to be an outspoken and independent voice for the causes I believed in as I had been during his presidency. I thanked him, and said I would try to be.”
McCain’s book is set to be released May 22. The book’s release comes as he battles an aggressive form of brain cancer.

The purpose was to spit in the eye of Donald Trump .. and in the eye of the American people - as always.
McCain knew the Senate would never come together for the people, only giving lip service for the sake of their own worthless hides - and they knew McCain would give them the cover they needed for the vote they never wanted to cast!
Attempting somewhat of a CYA now is because he wants Cindy (or maybe Megan) to take his seat and would like to continue pulling the wool over the voter’s eyes as he did during his campaigns.

No one is buying his (McCain’s) failed book. In less then one week it tumbled from #4 on the Amazon.com best seller list to #23 & falling.
Comey’s tome has gone from #1 to #8 in two weeks. Hillary’s tome was on the best seller #1 slot for months, but it did her zero good, as she is now a woman that has had her fifteen minutes of fame, she has become toast, no, burnt toast!!! Obama....too!!!

So exactly what deficits from his brain tumor has he experienced? Evidently none, right? Writing books, giving interviews, planning his funeral guest list, frequent visitors (democrats). This is one lucky guy, three people I knew well with glioblastoma couldn’t write, speak, walk, fought daily seizures, semi-comatose, hours of sleeping, rapid growth of tumor, etc.

I’m not a senator. This guy has been for what, 25 years or more? But I do know this. Had the republicans voted to dismantle Obamacare, it would have provoded the Senate to either work together for something better or, to just let it go.
His action, assured that neither would be done, more over no solution thru the Senate.
I don’t understand why the Senate has to follow a 60 vote rule. It should be simple majority.
This guy has to rank as the worst Senator in my life time along with the worst republican candidate for president. Worse than Geral Ford and Bob Dole. The worst.
