Even when he ostensibly was “one of us” when he became famous in the 1980s, Will merely road the coat tails of the Reagan revolution (and made a lot of money off of it). He was never influential.

I used to really like his writings. His first few books and collections of essays were quite helpful to me as I was a younger adult having to defend my Conservatism in the early 90s.
He still does help move our football forward (e.g., 2014, the Left attacked him for writing "when [colleges and universities] make victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate")... but he also has more and more moments like this, sadly.
