Tell the Truth about Stormy Daniels
National Review ^ | May 8, 2018 | RICH LOWRY

Posted on 05/08/2018 4:20:47 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Rudy Giuliani’s account of Donald Trump’s role in the payment to Stormy Daniels has collapsed into near-incoherence.

In his latest interviews, the newly minted Trump lawyer has adopted a posture of impenetrable epistemological modesty — there’s nothing he knows about the case, or can possibly learn about it anytime soon. Giuliani retreated to this tack after directly contradicting the president’s denial of knowing anything about the hush money, and getting rebuked by Trump for being ill-informed and not yet up to speed.

It shouldn’t be this complicated. Getting their story straight would be much easier if they adopted a simple, nay simplistic, legal and political strategy — telling the truth.

Giuliani shocked the political world when he said last week that Trump had reimbursed his fixer Michael Cohen for the payout to the porn star. Rudy declared that this made it a private transaction, and therefore it couldn’t be a campaign-finance violation. Case closed.

But the legal reasoning wasn’t airtight — if Cohen made the payment to influence the campaign, it didn’t matter if Trump paid it back or not — and Trump wasn’t ready to endorse Rudy’s version of events.

By this past weekend, the former New York City mayor was on This Week on ABC News, incapable of saying much of anything at all. Had, George Stephanopoulos asked, Trump met Stormy Daniels? “It depends,” Giuliani replied, “on kind of what you mean by met her, right?”

When did Trump first learn Daniels asked for payment? “Don’t know and doesn’t matter to me.” Stephanopoulos pointed out that Giuliani told the website BuzzFeed that Cohen complained to Trump about not getting paid back after the 2016 campaign. So, the president knew about the payment after the campaign?

No one care. Media clown show manufactured to keep the attention off the incredible job the President has done

no Surprise that the poltical traitors in the Never Trump moron club are busy fixating on this nonsense rather their helping push their GOP-E buddies to get the political ball moving on things like Immigration and reigning in spending.

In part. But they continue to report on it because the narrative changes almost daily. In way too many ways the President is poorly served by the people who are speaking for him.

And if the administration had settled on a single story at the beginning and stuck with it then people wouldn't continue to report on it. A lot of this aggravation is self-inflicted. 35 posted on 5/8/2018, 8:09:26 AM by DoodleDawg

You cannot possibly be this stupid? Are you completely oblivious to how the US "New Media" works? This statement is so incredibly ignorant of even basic fact, it boggles the mind that you would post it.

Great article. I must have missed it from earlier.

The article is correct. The amount of money Cohen paid her was “nuisance money” and pocket change for Trump to make stupid accusations go away, not enough to indicate there was anything more than a meeting that she tried to leverage into money.

What is more interesting is the question of who is paying for her legal fees? There’s not even a real reason for breaking a legal agreement she signed in the first place - if someone wasn’t paying her or offering her more money, she wouldn’t be there

I played hockey in my younger days. Donald Trump reminds me of the player who fills the role of an "enforcer" on the team. This guy is often a questionable character (one former teammate missed part of a season because he was in jail). I'd never involve any of them in my personal affairs. I usually got along with them, but I had to keep a bit of a distance from them.

He was also absolutely critical to the success of the team. He brings the personality of a honey badger onto the ice, and his job is to protect the best players on the team and make sure the opposing players don't 'eff with them.

You sound like my former teammate who complained about our enforcer -- we'll call him Donald Trump -- after he had just been arrested for his third d DUI.

I think of Donald Trump as the enforcer who is facing a league suspension after beating the sh!t out of some @sshole who was manhandling our best player on the ice. I'll burn the arena down if they suspend that guy.

There is nothing wrong with Trump’s character.
He has done more to help America than any president in history. People like you are either fools or Democrat dupes and I am sick and tired of you all.
I don’t give a DAMN about what some harlot alleges happened.
I care about the mess Obama (a racist Marxist), Bush II (an idiot and an alcoholic), Bush I (a globalist idiot) and Clinton (a serial rapist and crook) and Trump’s HEROIC efforts to correct it, despite attacks from Democrats, RINOS and sniping from purists like you.
Grow up and get real.

Here’s my version of the truth:

This is a consensual matter between two people. No Crime.
There is no FORCED activity on the part of one or the other. No Crime.
There is no violence, such as hitting, slapping, assault involved in the story. No Crime.
There were no stupid campaign funds involved. No Crime.

There are only people in the media who have nothing better to do than manufacture a problem. That is a crime.

It is perfectly reasonable that a multi-billionaire retains a full time personal lawyer who acts independently and heads off threats to the personal life of his client.

Proof: Cohen has been in Trump’s employ since 2007 in just that capacity, Trump’s personal lawyer.

Trump also has a personal pilot for his jet, a personal chef, etc.

He is very rich.

You really need to get a new screen name. You critique Trump for the exact same thing that Reagan did: raise tariffs to protect American industry. You are anti-Trump and kind of clueless.

Same thing it always does. Look at what the left is doing. Look at what they are talking about. Look at what it is doing to their reputation.

More and more people get their news from social media and internet sources. This means more and more people experience what I experienced yesterday:

I was reading news stories about the economy, Iran, the Koreas and all sorts of other stuff that matters. Then I headed down to the lobby for a sandwich. CNN is tuned in on a TV down there. The whole time I’m wating in line they are talking about Stormy Daniels.

They are becoming more and more of a laughing stock with every day this story continues and they don’t seem to even know it. And the added bonus is that the CNN diehard watchers are living in the same bubble, damaging their credibility when they try to talk to normal people.

The first thing I liked about Trump after the election was his incredible ability to get the left to shoot themselves in the foot.
