Based on some recent visits to a few fast food places, people who were teenagers in the 1950’s and 60’s are filling the gap. Unsurprisingly, they’re typically more friendly and efficient than their thumb-up-the-@$$ grand children.
Don’t need charts and graphs to know that cheap illegal alien labor pushed out teenagers.
Reasons why some teens won’t work for fast food places:
1) Eeeewww!
2) I’m NOT taking out my nose ring!
3) You want me to work Saturday night’s??? Forget it!
4) I sleep in on the weekends!
5) I could break one of my acrylic nails!
6) So you’re telling me I’d have to pass a drug test? Yeah,
right.
7) Wear that cheesy hat? Oh, I don’t THINK so!
8) What do you mean, I can’t smoke dope on my break?
9) Hey! Nobody tells ME what language I can or can’t use!
10) And mess up my welfare payments? Dream on!
11) I can make a WHOLE lot more money boostin’ stuff or
sellin’ dope!
12) My daycare ain’t open on weekends.
13) You mean part of my job is to clean the bathrooms?? Huh
Uh. Um mm. BYE!
14) I AIN’T servin’ no Pigs!
PAY.MORE.
States have made laws so restrictive that hiring a person under 18 is more trouble then it is worth.
The school district has to issue a work permit. This permit will say when the minor will work and what work they can do. If they change jobs a new work permit is needed.
This permit can be pulled at the discretion of the school district.
This applies to all minors, public, private, home, drop out or graduated.
In my area, FF has been overtaken by spanish speaking individuals.
My daughter has a friend who works at Jack in the Box.
She hates her job because everyone else only speaks spanish so it’s hard to know what todo and keep up.
My son applied all over town and was told he had to be over 18 for most jobs.
He applied at Pizza Hut and was told he was unqualified to make pizza.
He can probably cook circles around any of the pizza slingers at that place.
He finally got hired at 18 at a local business and worked there about a year before being hired at a petroleum infrastructure outfit, again the job was acquired through someone he knew in high school-an instructor.
People shouldn’t have to learn a foreign language in their own country in order to get a job at a burger joint.
America should be English ONLY.
Both my daughters worked at the McDs in town last year during summer break. Just because they didn’t cause trouble and did what needed to be done they quickly got on the managements good side. Lot of the other workers were just lazy, didn’t care if they did a good job, or were drama queens - per the girls.
Youngest just got off from college and walked in to the store and before she could ask the manager with, per my daughter, ‘a sparkle in her eye’ said she could start today if she wanted to come back.
This has more to do with work ethic than just about anything else.
However - it also has to do with $. Her boyfriend just started at a place near his apt part time at about 1 1/2 times what fast food pays, and has already been promoted and asked to work more hours then he can while still going to school.
Lack of work ethic/desire to work and minimum wage.
My smart, well-presenting teenagers are all working retail or restaurants where people sit and where they tip.
There's really no reason they would work fast food - that's where the drug addicts work.
A business I have knowledge of in Gaithersburg, MD, called “Country Casual”. Very expensive stuff and EVERY SINGLE one of their workers in the warehouse is Hispanic.
Cheaper? I’d say so.
They don’t like working. They wanna be activists and bitch like that Hogg boy.
How about all that automation talk, with robots doing the minimum wage jobs, that we used to hear about?
Ask Planned Parenthood.
Funny - the local Chik-Fil-A and Cracker Barrel have loads of teens working for them.
ConservaTeen can’t do fast food...He runs businesses...and now all daughter is trying to start a Lemonade/Limeade/Orangeade business...
