Judge hands defeat to Mueller team in Russian troll farm case
Washington Examiner ^ | 5/5/18 | D Chaitin

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team was handed a small defeat Saturday when a judge rejected their request to postpone the first court hearing regarding charges against several Russian companies and Russian citizens that they charge with attempting to use social media to meddle in the 2016 election.

An arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday for Concord Management and Consulting, one of the three Russian companies Mueller accused of contributing to a Russian troll farm operation to spread discord online during the presidential contest.

Mueller's team asked for a delay on Friday because it was unclear whether the firm had formally accepted the court summons for the case, but U.S. District Court Judge Dabney Friedrich, an appointee of President Trump, denied that request in a brief order Saturday. No explanation was given for the decision, according to Politico.

“I think trump did an early fortification of DC district judges just for this reason.”

Wow! Makes total sense. What a brilliant move!

I’d LOVE IT, too. And the Russians may just do that. They have to be sick to death of being dragged around and used by these people - the same ones they created and financed to ruin the United States during the Cold War. They DEFINITELY must feel double-crossed.

“My other thought from day one was that when this witch hunt finally imploded, that it was going to do immeasurable harm to the Dems and the media when it happened, because folks who’ve only been paying partial attention and who may have kind of believed that there must be at least SOME fire because of all the fake smoke being genned by the leftist fake stream media, would see the implosion and that there was no there there after all the fake smoke, and go: “WTF????”

You’re right.

You’re right. Trump has made noises (Tweets and objections) which have encouraged Mueller. Those noises have only fed Mueller more rope to hang himself with.

It would be quite the irony if it was found that Mueller had a hand in the mischief ther U.S.played in Israel’s 2015 elections. The Obama administration. led by Secretary of State John Kerry, illegally intervened when they attempted to defeat the reelection of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by covertly funneling State Department grants to opposition groups. As with most investigations of Obama scandals, emails documenting this illegal election activity were destroyed. And, as usual, no one was held accountable.

#9. BobL (no relation to Plan 9 From Outer Space, are you?).

Good analysis.

Hope you are right. Time for Mueller to suffer a professionally embarrassing case of whoop-ass.

“The SP was hoping for a “default judgment” - now they are forced to produce, or lose”

And one has to think Flynn and the others who have preemptively pleaded guilty to nebulous charges are watching. If the Mueller-Rosenstein Gang can’t produce, this whole venture of theirs will collapse under its own weight.

and the defendant’s lawyers prove they were served properly by showing up in court with a detailed list of discovery demands?

There’s the problem for Mueller. He thought he could just throw charges at people and use jackboot raids to make them cave or hide. He didn’t think they’d fight. The last thing Mueller wants is to actually follow the law. Showing his evidence to the defense? His evidence is likely laughable and or illegally obtained e.g. wiretaps) and Mueller knows it.

Mueller is a bully and a bully folds if you punch back.

This is a good one too ...

B. Rule 12 Requests

2. From 1945 to present, each and every instance where any United States or foreign person has been charged by the government with violating 18 U.S.C. 371, for allegedly impairing, obstructing and defeating lawful governmental functions of the United States by dishonest means in order to interfere with the United States' political and electoral processes.

Hint. There are none. This is a novel and ludicrous legal theory. Especially when the defendant is engaging in what is generally 1st amendment activity, free speech, with any legal failures being in the area of campaign finance reporting, or registering as a foreign agent ... and even THOSE claims by Weissman are nuts.

This indictment was a political statement loaded with gratuitous accusations that had nothing to do with the (bogus) charges.

Yep - didn’t expect any interaction because they could ignore the charges with impunity but they started asking for proof of the charges and Mueller has no proof...

Mueller’s showboating to keep the “Russian Collusion” narrative in the press, now opens sensitive US intelligence sources and methods to legal discovery by the actual Russian Government.

This charade is now endangering our intelligence capabilities, as well as our constitutional system and rule of law.

Rosenstein held a press conference to announce these charges - he needs to go as well as Mueller.
