There are several variations of gaslighting.
Sometimes we (on all sides of an issue) don’t want to face the truth. Many people vote against a candidate, not for the other candidate. Rarely does the winner have a mandate. But we want to gaslight ourselves into believing it.
Likewise, losers do not want to face the reality that they lost. So they create gaslight fantasies to explain why they really did not lose.
In sports, we blame the ref. We blame the clock. We blame the fan in the stadium who catches the foul ball the player would have caught.
We do the same in our personal lives. Many of us have a negative net worth and live paycheck to paycheck. We gaslight that because the cost of government is 43% to 47% for each of us who works hard and has to fork over our money to the government.
We do the same in politics. We gaslight Russian Collusion. We gaslight racism, nazis, that dreaded alt-Right. We also gaslight illegal aliens.
The left portrays illegals as living in the shadows, living in fear, petrified.
Some anti-illegal voices go to the other extreme that all illegals are terrible people ... just because they did not play mother-may-I with the Nanny state.
The truth is that not all illegals are the same. Extremely few live in fear...and those that do have mental problems and are no more common than mental problems in the rest of us. And although a significant minority of illegals are undesirable and should be deported because they are undesirable and cost the government big money, the majority of illegals are a benefit to society.
For example, here in inner city Atlanta many construction sites have help-wanted signs. They cannot find enough workers. They would hire any citizen able to do construction work. E.g. they would hire excons. But citizens on welfare are not taking these jobs.
And wage rate? How much is an excon with no high school and 3rd grade ability in reading and math, and no work history and no marketable skills... how much is he worth per hour?
But we gaslight and say illegals are taking jobs from citizens.
Have I gaslighted at times? Maybe. But let’s be honest about this gaslighting.
You couldn’t be more wrong. The presence and availability of illegal labor falsely depresses wages so that an excon or welfare recipient cannot afford to take the job and the inherent loss of taxpayer subsidy... Then your illegal does not pay taxes, robbing the taxpayer twice.
Your post is an excellent example.
Spintree Bob, are you Baghdad Bobs brother?
I like your thoughts but I guarantee you if the pay and benefits were high enough those construction jobs would be filled.
Suppose they paid $200 an hour? Would there be any vacancies? Of course not.
Well keep going lower and youll find the correct wage when you get a decent number of qualified candidates. And thats how capitalism actually works...not by importing slaves.
We are a nation of laws... IF any person enters this nation illegally they are 'bad'!!!!! But worse than the illegals, are those that participate in the crime. You try and go to the country of origin of any illegal and see IF you can 'work' on the sly and get away with it.
Do you work for some national 'religious' charity?
Go f yourself.
