Nope, it works if you trust the person lying to you.

You do not trust CNN (at least I hope you don't) so you were able to laugh it off.

If you were dealing with someone you trusted on another subject you would probably fall just as easily into the trap.

Ignorant people trust liars.

I am reminded of the old saying: “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.”

Lying, especially by CNN “The Most trusted Name in News” should be obvious to all.

I will amend my remarks to say that it takes ignorance AND an unwillingness to learn or be objective to allow “gaslighting” to succeed.

Sure, I’ve been hustled, but that is a one trick pony.
