Starting as a background singer at Flo Greenberg’s Scepter Records in the Brill Building, Dionne became the label’s star. Her career at Scepter was spent recording the songs of Hal David and Burt Bacharach, and she became their greatest exponent. I always loved that woman’s cheekbones.
