After reading this, is it any wonder FDR, the “Comander and Chief” of the armed forces NEVER ordered the destruction of the known Nazi extermination camps throughout the entirety of WW2 even though FDR KNEW the Nazis were murdering Jews by the MILLIONS!

In a conversation with Jim Farley and Bernard Baruch FDR reminded them that Jews and Catholics were in the US as guests and were not a real part of America. He was replying to their worries about the predjudice each group had experienced and were still experiencing especially in the WW2 military. They were told it was best for both groups to accept their place in America.
Can’t recall when or where I read about this story, but it was long ago when I was very young:
“The US could have agreed to allow the passengers of the St. Louis to land and wait in America for their visas to be processed. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who a few years later would use an executive order to round up tens of thousands of Japanese Americans and put them in concentration camps, could have ordered that 900 German Jews be allowed to stay. He did not do so. FDR’s defenders (like his presidential library) stress that he never issued a “specific or official order to turn them away.” But he didn’t have to. His government was doing that for him.”
Not entirely accurate: in some conversations FDR did express a desire to settle Jewish refugees here, but he said he thought anti-Semitic sentiment in the U.S. would make this practically impossible, so he looked for other options, which the documents described in this article evidently reflect.
