Is it any wonder FDR, the Comander and Chief of the armed forces NEVER ordered the destruction of the known Nazi extermination camps throughout the entirety of WW2
Why would he have done that? It would not have furthered any of the war aims of the United States AND it would have used scarce resources and lives.
“All statues, memorials and shrines to FDR must now be destroyed.”
Sounds suspiciously like Obama’s Islamic resettlement plan in the US.
It will be your head?
In a conversation with Jim Farley and Bernard Baruch FDR reminded them that Jews and Catholics were in the US as guests and were not a real part of America. He was replying to their worries about the predjudice each group had experienced and were still experiencing especially in the WW2 military. They were told it was best for both groups to accept their place in America.
True enough. I saw a poll once from 1938 or 39 in which less than 5 or 6% of the population favored increasing immigration quotas to allow refugees from Europe to immigrate to the U.S. And that was for all Europeans, not just Jews.
The only difference between the East Coast Brahmins and the Klan was social status. They shared similar views.
Didn’t know about Truman’s wife. Sort of like Lincoln’s wife and Grant’s wife both being people who would not have been abolitionists.
Not sure I’d call Lincoln or Grant abolitionists. Grant’s slaves, his wife thru her dad’s inheritance but managed by him got their freedom the end of 65 when the 14th and 15th amendments were ratified. The few who didn’t run off. But different times, I don’t think we should judge based on social mores today.
And get that whoremaster JFK off the 50c and we can go back to using them again.
Can’t recall when or where I read about this story, but it was long ago when I was very young:
“The US could have agreed to allow the passengers of the St. Louis to land and wait in America for their visas to be processed. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who a few years later would use an executive order to round up tens of thousands of Japanese Americans and put them in concentration camps, could have ordered that 900 German Jews be allowed to stay. He did not do so. FDR’s defenders (like his presidential library) stress that he never issued a “specific or official order to turn them away.” But he didn’t have to. His government was doing that for him.”
And the Klan in particular and the South and Southern midwest in general were the backbone of the Dems in the 30s.And in the 20s and 30s Catholics and Jews were as much targets of Klan violence as Blacks.
Yes. They were going to be landed in Cuba, State pressured Cuba not to allow them to land as they might find their way to the US.
“And get that whoremaster JFK off the 50c and we can go back to using them again.”
However, the 1/2 Dollar is not going to make it, no matter who is on the front - not until vending machine makers enlarge the slots for them. This is unlikely, especially in the electronic era. I was VERY disappointed to find that casinos have made slots into electronic games (yeah, I’ve been away from them for a while). It is no fun without the clanging of coins and handling them (but that slows down how much you can bet, so the casinos moved away from that in all but a few cases). The coin is pretty much stuck as a commemorative or as a collectors piece, and I think that it’ll be gone altogether within 15 or so years...sad.
That was it.
As soon as people think another group of people arent people, this kind of thing happens.
What decisions or judicial policies specifcally are you referring to re "banning Truth"?
I really would like an explanation WHY Axelrod and Ram gave Obama their brain power to transform this nation... WHY would either of these two (Soros) included think it was a ‘good’ thing to import middle east Muslims into this country and put them on assistance for life?
By the way I am Christian... there was nothing ‘Christian’ about Hitler ... he was a devil worshiper .... it is a LIE to call Hitler ‘Christian.
Thanks MarvinStinson.
That FDR tapped Ales Hrdlicka, and that the latter had racial superiority views, was a little bit surprising to me -- Ales Hrdlicka began his career advocating in favor of PreColumbian contact as the explnation for megalithic structures and large moundbuilding. He then made a strong 180 and is literally the godfather of the isolationist view that prevails today as Clovis-First-and-Only. Isolationism has a political appeal of course, and it could be argued has roots in xenophobia and racial superiority. Columbus, he was the first to come by boat, the ancestors of Precolumbian tribes, they came on foot, and only did it once.
In Hrdlicka's time, the view was that human presence in the Americas was only 3000 years old. That view died hard, but not as hard as Clovis-First-and-Only.
