.Mobile phones may be behind a surge in a deadly brain tumor, scientists say.

Cases of glioblastoma in England soared from 983 to 2,531 between 1995 and 2015, figures from the Office of National Statistics reveal.

The rise was across all age groups and came as cases of lower-grade tumors fell.

Then just ignore my post and remain ignorant of the study.

gender of users?
number of times in 24hours used?
Ruration of each usage?

All electromagnetic radiation (EMR) with frequencies below higher ultraviolet (low ultra violet, visible light, radio waves) are non-ionizing. High ultra-violet, gamma waves and x-rays are ionizing.

The typical house has quite a few non-ionizing radiation emitters. TVs, wi-fi routers, cell phones, cordless phones, microwave ovens. EMR is all around us at all times.

The only thing about cell and cordless phones is that we use them by putting them right up against our head. The closer a transmitter is to the brain, the more effect it would have, assuming there is some type of effect.

Blue tooth is better...don’t stand in front of microwaves, either

I understand the physics of it as well, but when I drive home in front of a car, and the same car goes nearly all the way with me...and the cell phone doesn’t budge from their head or their mouth stop moving in a solid hour, it does make me wonder.

Of course, it might be Darwin at work too.

I text far more than I talk and I suspect that’s true of most cell phone users.

“Cell handsets have a max output of .6 watt.”

I think it’s about frequency, not intensity, when it comes to cancer. Cancer-causing radiation is ultraviolet and above (e.g. X-rays). Radio communications equipment uses frequencies below infrared, which is below visible light, which is below and adjacent to ultraviolet.

I don’t see how a cellphone could be cancer-causing unless there’s a side effect of the circuitry that produces the harmful frequencies.

More likely a link between heavy metal poisoning and brain tumors. Environmental toxin buildup.

The rise is greatest in the over 55s, who use mobile phones much less and there was very little mobile phone use in 1995 when rates are already increasing.”

Perhaps the increase is simply due to an increasingly elderly population?

Those over 55 were also using the early phones with higher energy levels.

Yes, but how many were using phones prior to 1995? And was there a correlation between phone users prior to that period and the increase in brain cancer?

IOW, before 1995, the number of cell phone users was quite small. If there is a correlation, you should be able to see an uptick in that small population compared to the general population. If there is no notable difference, then there are other factors to consider.

I have a friend - a doctor who's now retired - who mentioned this to me years ago. Said he was running into a rare form of brain cancer waaaay to much... and he started casually asking about cell phone use. He didn't make a direct connection - and he's owned a cell phone for more than 20 years... so at least one person suspected the possibility. There must have been others.

I would look at the declining nutrition if food before I investigated cell usage.

I don’t know about cellphone use, but do wonder about the risks for some — who might medically be more susceptible to cancer than others — and who live, work, or go to school near one of those power stations.

I personally knew 6 people who lived within a 5-mile radius of one of those things who died of brain tumors. So I can’t help but wonder if there’s something to it. Otherwise, that’s a lot of brain cancer patients for one person to know, and I wonder how many do I not know of?

Do they point out correlation between tumors and the side or location of the head they appear on?

Way different usage patterns, and way different frequency ranges.
