AUSTIN — Russians were behind the Texas furor over the Jade Helm 15 federal military exercise, which drew so much concern that Gov. Greg Abbott directed the State Guard to monitor the operation, former CIA director Michael Hayden said on MSNBC.
Hayden, a retired Air Force general who also headed the National Security Agency in 1999-2005, was on Wednesday’s podcast by “Morning Joe.” He has a new book, “The Assault on Intelligence: American National Security in an Age of Lies,” and discussed Russia’s focus on information warfare.
Rusians “took their game to North America in 2015,” said Hayden, who was CIA director under President George W. Bush.
“There was an exercise in Texas called Jade Helm 15,” he said. “Russian bots and the American alt-right media convinced most — many — Texans … that Obama planned to round up political dissidents.
“It got so much traction the governor of Texas had to call out the National Guard to observe the federal exercise to keep the population calm,” Hayden said. “At that point, I’m figuring the Russians are saying, ‘We can go big time.’ At that point, I think they made the decision, we’re going to play in the electoral process.”

Or maybe because “Homeland” - after 8/11 put out books showing traditional Americans as being ‘terrorists’ on the same level as the people who flew planes into the Twin Towers.
Or maybe the Russians spied on our ‘deep state’ and came away with information that traditional Americans WERE the only enemy the ‘deep state’ sh*ts in the CIA hated.
Or many it was because the IRS worked against conservative Americans then lied about it.... and the press and deep state didn't give a damn because they were working against traditional Americans too.
Or maybe it was the FBI investigating every conservative group they could find - and baiting them at every chance - while totally ignoring violent left wing groups chanting about killing cops.
Or maybe it was because the FBI worked with the Southern Poverty Law Center to present to law enforecemtnt that traditional Americans were terrorists and liberal elites were their Gods.
Or maybe it was the many fake hate crimes - so easily debunked once decent police officers started looking into them... fake hate crimes the liberal press covered ... but then ignored when they were debunked.
Maybe Hayden and the Deep State see us as the enemy and they've tried to present us that way with fake comments on our sites attempting to gin up violence.
Maybe the Russians were smart enough to see the Lois Lerners, the FBI Bias against conservative groups, the hatred of the Deep State, and the contempt from Hillary's ‘deplorable’ comments to figure out that the deep state attempting to murder us was plausible.
I can tell you this much - if Russians had put out the meme that we were valued Americans and a welcome part of the American dream - we would NOT have fallen for it...
And that tells you all you need to know about how the ‘elites’ in DC have made the people of the country feel. And it explains why we elected Trump and why we'll continue to elect people who will fight the monsters among the ‘elites’ and fight FOR American citizens.

I’m less concerned about the original troll than I am for the people who wouldn’t listen to reason and kept spreading rumors.
I am sure there are always some people who suspect US Army is going to invade Texas, but it is a bit scary that the Governor fell for it.
For the former head of both the CIA and NSA he talks way too much..
If something is classified, there will ALWAYS be conspiracies surrounding it... which is just fine with the owners.
