As a “stupid people,” I actually went to the article from Popular Mechanics that was referenced in your link.
It should be noted that the Popular Mechanics article is a year old (lots of facts about Norks and their nuclear capabilities have changed since). The major premise of the article is that Norks could not kill 90 percent of Americans with an EMP because they don’t have Nukes. Secondary premise is that nuke-caused EMP would not do the damage “stupid people” believe.
That said, it is Popular Mechanics...it was not sourced with any experts, and the author is a journalist, not a PhD. I have never considered Popular Mechanics to be heavy, serious reading, so I am not surprised that no experts quoted and author is a journalist.
The article’s author drew a number of questionable conclusions but it should be noted that did he not rule out devastation caused by other sources of EMPs such as Carrington event...
“Stupid People”...**Dr Pry is considered America’s foremost expert on this topic. He has two Ph.D.s and a certificate on nuclear weapon design, worked at the CIA for a decade, worked on the House Armed Services Committee, and then served as director of the EMP Committee.

A Carrington Event DOES have the potential to eliminate the electrical infrastructure.
But it is several orders of magnitude more powerful than nukes.

Starfish Prime caused effects 900 miles away in Hawaii - well beyond “several miles” from the source. I’m guessing that you think that everyone in Hawaii that experienced those effects was stupid.

You know, what is *actually* stupid is spouting off as if you’re an authority on a subject when, in reality, you know somewhere between zip and zilch about it. I don’t pretend to be an expert on EMP, but I do know how to access publicly available information about it, so as to learn. Maybe I’m being a bit bold here, but I’m going to suggest that you do something similar to what I’ve done. When you get more information, then you’ll be in a better position to give everyone an informed opinion, rather than just casually dismissing something that you don’t actually understand.
