Clashes at migrant hostel stir German integration fears

BERLIN - Police raided a migrant shelter in southern Germany on Thursday three days after officers clashed with residents over the deportation of an asylum seeker from Togo.

The unrest at the shelter in the southern town of Ellwangen has been seized upon by politicians from across the spectrum to highlight the difficulties Germany faces in integrating the more than 1.6 million migrants who have arrived since 2014 and that the influx poses a security risk.

Police said it arrested a handful of individuals suspected of drugs offences during Thursday’s raid and moved 17 residents of the hostel, home to around 500 mostly African asylum seekers, to other locations.

Three people and one police officer were slightly hurt during the raid, said a medical team spokesman.

Officers also found the 23-year-old Togolese man, identified by media as Yussif O., whom they had been trying to deport on Monday, police said. No weapons were found during the operation, which started at dawn and was ongoing.

A bit late for that, don’t you think.

The Togolese guy who started this...arrived in Italy and signed asylum papers there, which by EU rules mean...he has to complete the whole process in Italy. Well...he soon figures out that Italy really doesn’t offer the same benefits/cash as you might get in Germany. So he hikes up into Germany....claims asylum, and they survey the records. Nope...you can’t claim it here because you already did it in Italy. They tried in Feb to talk sensibly to the guy and just say you have to go. It didn’t work.

This effort from five days ago? Cops seemed to do this with only a small crew (maybe four guys), after midnight. That whole thing went badly, and they had to release him after the 150 in the building went to force the cops to release him.

He did some interview yesterday and said Germany has to allow him to stay....they welcomed him with ‘open arms’. Then he mentioned that his ‘brothers’ would protect him.

My interpretation is that the Bavarians (this was in their state) went ballistic and ordered up a ‘army’ to come into the camp this morning (5:30 am). There were folks on the 2nd and 3rd floors jumping out the windows and several of the refugees probably ended up with broken bones from the jumping business.

The big deal here is that state elections in Bavaria are just five months away. Any act of stupidity will get a harsh reaction by the authorities.

Inmates running the asylum. Serves them right for what Hitler did.

What alleged unrest is occurring in Togo? Do the Europeans conduct zero research into the country of origin of “asylum” seekers to determine the validity of their claim? Someone from the Azores could be an “asylum” seeker, but considering there are about 20 people there and it’s a virtual paradise, the chances of there being a conflict to escape from seems rather implausible.

More fruit of the womb of Mutti Merkel.

But the Bayerners will be tougher on muzzie migrants, I believe. They love sticking it to Berlin whenever possible.

I have been reading a lot of articles like this as well as articles about the native EU subjects starting to voice their fatigue in dealing with these recent arrivals. Voicing your opinion could possibly get you charged or branded a hater..

It seems the tide is turning throughout Europe and that the subjects of the EU may not be far from an open revolt. First at the ballet box. Then maybe something else but unlikely at this point in time.

Well...both the ‘center’ parties (CDU and SPD) faced off in a couple of state elections in 2016/2017, and lost votes to the AfD Party (anti-immigration)....not a lot but enough that it mattered.

So Sep 2017 rolled around and the two parties had the lowest combined total since WW II (54-percent). The AfD Party took around 14-percent.

There are two state elections in 2018, and the AfD will figure into both.

The next election nationally is Sep 2021. If the AfD just got 20-percent....it’d really make it difficult to run a coalition government.
