The ChiComs realize the alternative to denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is that, eventually, South Korea and Japan would have to deploy nuclear weapons. They don’t want that.

Actually it is more likely that China pressured N Korea — after Trump’s people explained to them, that if they want to continue to do business with the US, they better get NK in line.
