“Does it make sense “
The biggest detraction from what would have been a wonderful college experience was the dozens of Iranian “students.” They were all political activists who cheated their way into staying in class. They had nothing westerners would view as reason or logic. They seemed to see the world through an ideological filter totally divorced from reality. Talking to them was like talking to a paranoid schizophrenic. “The CIA controls the Shah’s secret police. The CIA controls the newspapers. The CIA controls the weather.” Yes, those are all direct quotes. You can’t ask a question, does this make sense, when the person you are referring to is, essentially, from the ninth century.
Fortunately, too, you can’t believe anything they say.
You should have told them that the CIA didn’t control everything in Iran. The United States yes,but not Iran.
Are you saying, (as has been claimed by many) that the Arabs & Persians are congenital liars?? Oh my gosh!
This mirrors my experience to the letter. The only time they were lying is when their lips moved. Delusional is a mild description. Nucking futs is more like it. These are the late 50 and early 60 year-olds now running the country.
I also remember them marching around the Dresser building in Houston sometime in 1979 or 1980 when the Shah was overthrown. Yeah, stuck in some century long before this one.
I went to college with a ME exchange muslim who loved his 7&7s. Achmad was a very good student and graduated with a busniss degree. He went on to UofM school of business, got his MBA and went home to help his dad.
His dad was Minister of Oil and Energy for Bharain.
The CIA controls the Shahs secret police. The CIA controls the newspapers. The CIA controls the weather.
