Israel is not an ally of the United States. Legally, allies are countries that have mutual defense obligations to each other. As a NATO member, Turkey is more closely aligned with the U.S. than Israel is.

Israel's relationship with the U.S. is really no different than Saudi Arabia's. They are two countries that simply spend a lot of money buying members of Congress.
