Exclusive: Democrats lose ground with millennials - Reuters/Ipsos poll
Reuters ^ | April 30, 2018 | Chris Khan

Enthusiasm for the Democratic Party is waning among young voters, so-called millennials, as its candidates head into the crucial midterm congressional elections, according to the Reuters/Ipsos national opinion poll.

The online survey of more than 16,000 registered voters ages 18 to 34 shows their support for Democrats over Republicans for Congress slipped by about 9 percentage points over the past two years, to 46 percent overall. And they increasingly say the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy.

Although nearly two of three young voters polled said they do not like Republican President Donald Trump, their distaste for him does not necessarily extend to all Republicans or translate directly into votes for Democratic congressional candidates.

That presents a potential problem for Democrats who have come to count on millennials as a core constituency - and will need all the loyalty they can get to achieve a net gain of 23 seats to capture control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November.

If you have a millennial in your house, make sure they know how to vote and lead by example.

Wow. Never would have thought this. 16,000 is a pretty big sampling, too.

And my guess why they hate the POTUS is strictly from the way he is portrayed in the media.

This can also work toward further splitting the GOP and feed into the NeverTrump narrative.

They are learning that the Democrats don’t want them to move out of mom’s basement and Trump can give them a way out. IT’S THE ECONOMY STUPID!!

probably partially explains why I haven’t heard about Mueller in the last couple weeks, and what an upstanding and incorruptible public servant he is.

Young people don’t pay attention to media. Their information is all from jokes, entertainment shows and YouTube clips. they want to laugh and forward funny stuff on social media.

If the key democratic constituency trinity of the stupid, the I’ll-informed and the malcontent starts to come apart, they’re in real trouble

If you have a millennial in your house, your days of shaping them and instilling values are long past.

A lot of Millennials who are politically aware are even further to the right than Free Republic. They’re embracing identity politics in reaction to this Third World First agenda.

I’m sure everyone here knows about the Alt-Right.

Agreed. Look at how they are panicking over the whole Kayne West and Chance the Rapper statements. If they lose even 10% of the black vote, they’re done. Unless they get the illegals the vote.

Bottom line: the Dims may not be able to cobble together enough votes among their various dependent fiefdoms (young heads full of mush, race pimps, immigrants, young single women with or without kids who see Uncle Sam as a sugar daddy, feminazis, miscellaneous dependent classes, etc., etc.) to put them over the top.
