Several reporters found comedian Michelle Wolfs performance at the White House Correspondents Dinner Saturday to be detrimental to the mission of the evening and a gift to President Donald Trump, who was not in attendance but at a political rally in Michigan.
Wolf took gratuitous shots at President Trump and White House officials that journalists at the Associated Press, Politico, Yahoo News, The New York Times, and CNN found to be cruel and off-putting. Wolf laughed at the audience following the negative response of one vulgar joke.
Yeah, you shoulda done more research before you got me to do this, she said.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders received many of Wolfs lobs as did White House counselor Kellyanne Conway. MSNBCs Andrea Mitchell called for an apology to Huckabee Sanders.
CNNs Jeff Zeleny lamented with New York Times reporter Peter Baker that the annual dinner did not advance the cause of journalism. Zeleny added he thought the dinner was an embarrassment.
Politicos Kyle Cheney said in a tweet that Wolf bombed and undermined an otherwise meaningful evening. Cheney remarked the comedians set was (spectacularly) one-sided. It was because she was unnecessarily cruel on a night the WHCA was trying to showcase decency and purpose.
Jon Ward, a reporter for Yahoo News, tweeted that he was not laughing and found himself aghast at many of Wolfs jokes. He added that her routine took mean spirited personal shots and was a political gift to the Trump admin.
The Associated Press described Wolfs routine as a vulgar riff on Trump and party politics
Associated Press reporter Meg Kinnard said the dinner made the job of journalists much more difficult as far as public trust is concerned.

Correction - You reap what you sow.
All that occurred last night was the Commie libs showing for all to see, what they really think of us. For the most part they do it behind closed doors at their fancy shin digs, but this time they did it for all to see..what they really think about America and all of us. If the GOP is smart, all they have to do is make a campaign commercial showing clips from last night, that’s all..nothing else is needed

Wolf gave them exactly what they wanted—Red meat for the unhinged base.
All the post-event hand-wringing is too little, too late.
If the GOP are smart..... Well, they aren’t, but you knew that, right?
Its was an intentional attack .
They knew the no bodys material .
Kicked them off site. No briefings , no access .
Its the enemy here .
They are now cursed with cleaning up the destruction left in its wake.
-PJ
I would let the media hang itself, keep them going...potus knows that and the polls are way up :)
You also reap what you sow.
Oh, no. This is exactly what the organizers and audience in attendance wanted. They wanted it both ways. They wanted to bring someone on-stage they knew would "go there." And then they wanted to be able to react with fake shock, fake outrage, and fake concern when the comic did just that.
Here is her web site. I am calling all the venues she will be appearing and voicing a complaint.

Even LIBERAL “journalists” have a red line. Who kneew!
its a taylor made commercial!
As is modern journalism. Doubtless at one time, journalism reported news objectively and without tainting the event. Ever since Cronkite dispirited America concerning the Vietnam war, journalists have affected news with their opinions. That's not reporting. That's pushing their agenda.
And it won’t even cost that much honestly, its all they need to do and it will be enough to get Republican to the polls
It must have been really bad for these type reviews. Really bad! Glad to hear it.
