The San Francisco Police Department tweeted before-and-after images of a homeless encampment raid in the Tenderloin Wednesday, leading many to wonder where the people living in tents moved.
In one photo, a half-dozen tents are seen in a row along a sidewalk on Ellis Street. In the subsequent image, the same sidewalk is shown clear of the encampment and hosed down with water.
"'Tackled'? Are you for real? These are residents of our city and members of our community and we're supposed to thank you for hosing them away?" asked @lipstick_denim.
"Where are these people now," Twitter user Cathy Reisenwitz asked.
"So you made helpless and homeless citizens go somewhere else??? But where?? But did you actually help those in need??" Damon Oliver chimed in.
"This is not something to brag about. What happened to the PEOPLE who you shoved away? What happened to the PEOPLE?" @JimYoull asked.

Yea, but are they really?
The police had better knock this off. It is setting a bad precedent, enforcing the law...
Grind them into dog food.
Bet 100% of those ranting against this would be the first to call the cops if homeless set up camp in front of their houses/dwellings.
Well why don’t you and all your friends let them all move in with you @lipstick_denim, Cathy Reisenwitz, Damon Oliver, and @JimYoull.
Beat me to it, darn. :)
do something also about the junkies
The first week on the job in SF I worked in a high rise but only the 3rd floor, a co-worker said check this out, a guy was taking his clothes off - sat down did the needle ceremony and shot up right there on Market Street in the middle of the day on a public city street.
Does any one know what the sign in the picture means?
YMAM ????
Wow, I bet it took ALOT of water to wash down that area. I expect Gov Brown to be announcing that there will be no more wasting of water for these purposes....
As such, SF resells water at a profit to the surrounding areas.
Hey, @dipstick_Lenin, if they're such fine, upstanding members of your community, why didn't you invite them to live with you?
”Where are these people now,” Twitter user Cathy Reisenwitz asked
How about you put a couple up at your place, Cathy?
L
Yep these people should take people in.
Looked at that way, there should be no homeless problem. Enough people have enough spare bedrooms, or other space within existing homes and apartments, to find a place for every homeless individual.
If only it were that easy......
There is a major housing shortage in my county and town yet I never see anyone shooting up, begging or living in tents on sidewalks.
What’s wrong with SF?
“It’s cruel to let people live in the street.”
Yeah, they should flog them out of the city, and forbid them to return on pain of death.
