Kim Jong Un agrees to end war, agrees to denuclearization of Korean Peninsula
NBC News ^ | April 27, 2018 | Mac William Bishop, Stella Kim and Alastair Jamieson

The leaders of North and South Korea signed a historic declaration Friday pledging "no more war" and a common goal of "complete denuclearization" on the Korean Peninsula.

The countries, which technically remain in a state of war, heralded the deal as part of "a new era of peace" after a historic summit.

North Korea's Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in also vowed to "cease all hostile acts" and to "transform the Demilitarized Zone into a peace zone." The two leaders embraced, and Moon said he would visit Pyongyang in the fall.

“You seem to be high. It HAS NOT been done at the DMZ with one of the Kims stepping into South Korea and the President of S. Korea stepping into the North. To dismiss that as just like some other BS symbolism of the past is literally an insane statement to make.”

To believe it is material is insane. It’s diplomatic theatrics for the press to show to the sheelple for domestic political consumption.

Your comment “You see to be high” just makes me ROFWL and shows you can’t conceive of anyone disagreeing with you, with serious history for doing so.

Again, so many of you are reacting as if it, and my position is all about Trump.

It’s not. I voted for the guy. It’s about North Korea, it’s political DNA and it’s history. Nothing, including its long tern objectives over the South have changed one iota.

Just appreciating Trump does not make me blind to who and what North Korea is nor its history which so many of you want to ignore.

There is nothing wrong with hoping for the best.

Do you think that most Freepers are unaware that Un is not to be trusted?

Dismissing this overture out of hand is absurd.

Of course NK could simply cheat, lie, etc. Does that mean we simply give up hope on a peaceful outcome and just say screw it, nuke them now and be done with it?

Tempered optimism concerning this issue is not a bad thing. Freepers aren't as f***ing stupid as you seem to believe.

One part ‘trust’ and four parts ‘verify’ is warranted with one.

Seeing who’s received the Nobel in past years for simply being of a certain complexion, it’s a worthless award anymore, but wouldn’t it make the left’s head explode into a million pieces?

I am not dismissing any “overture”. I am dismissing the over hyped expectations and the equally over-hyped, silly and wrong headed notion that it all is somehow “unprecedented”. We - those who have really been watching closely all these years - have seen this play before.

I have not claimed anyone was stupid - as in like dim witted.

The feigning of denial of history, or outright denial of history is not about being stupid, but it can be ignorance (which means “not informed”, not “stupid”) or the feigning of ignorance just to praise Trump.

Whatever “Trump agrees to” the North will blow it, by one way or another sooner or later. You see, it’s not really about Trump or about any legacy for him. It’s the nature of the regime in North Korea. Trump won’t change that and he can’t change it.

So what is your recommendation?

No Chance for Peace? No Hope? No point in even trying?

Nuke them and be done with it?

From AEI: "When the government of South Korea announced last week that it would begin work on a formal peace treaty with North Korea, to be discussed at a summit meeting on April 27, its so-called Sunshine Policy of engagement gave way to P.T. Barnum-style, a-sucker-born-every-minute diplomacy..."

If you start with the invective calling people ignorant and such, you shouldn’t be surprised when you get it back.

I’m happy to have arguments with those who disagree with me, but your categorical dismissal of the possibility that Trump has changed Kim’s calculus is frankly dumb. Sure, it may be that Kim is just trying to BS his way into buying more time for building nukes, but he may also watch Trump dropping bombs in Syria last year and this year and his hires of Mattis and Bolton has Kim worrying what happens if Trump strikes his facilities. He cannot not respond like Assad, and his regime would be annihilated in record time if he did.

‘Verification’ will be the sticking point. What Obama-Clinton pulled in Libya will have repurcussions in that area.

My cousin serves at Red Cloud in Sokor. They are commies for a reason:

they want to rule over you. Then they come up with an alien concept called ‘peace’?

Like I stated on some Fr threads, we are there to checkmate China. Nothing else. and our boys will not come home and still be there regardless

Not so.....Fatboy has zero leverage...the sanctions hit hard his cronies and elites. Hit their banks, their wealth flow in every direction...their farmed out people..so those old f*arts behind Kim have no power left and they know it. Trump basically starved them all into compliance.

Nuclear mountain got hit too....so the N.Korean thuggery hasn’t anything left. NExt move would have been military action in ‘a big way’...and they knew Trump would not only do it but win.

The North now is all about ‘saving face’ before it’s people....that’s it. Trump and Xi have concluded the matter and what we’re seeing is just the dressing.

If Trump gets peace in the Middle East for 7 years and I live that long, as a Christian I’ll rejoice for the end is near.

I won’t explain the post so don’t ask.
