Hot Air ^ | 26 Apr 2018

The split vote represents the political scrutiny Pompeo is likely to encounter as he moves from the CIA to the State Department, where he’ll face the simultaneous challenges of reinvigorating an agency beset by flagging morale and answering for a president who is prone to impulsiveness.

Pompeo, who grew close to President Trump as his CIA director, takes over at State as the United States faces a host of foreign policy challenges. Near term, a deadline looms for extending the Iran nuclear deal and for Trump’s historic denuclearization talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

I don’t see Claire McCaskill as a yes vote. She must think that she can lie her way to reelection like she did in 2012.

>>Present Republicans approved Pompeo. In addition, independent Sen. Angus King of Maine had also announced his support as have several Democrats: Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Doug Jones of Alabama, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, and Joe Donnelly of Indiana.

All Dem cowards trying to win reelection in 2018.

The most deserving nominee ever! Too bad the obstructive Progressives/far left, won't have Dr. Jackson to skewer any longer. This stellar American, outed by Sen. Jon Tester, who made unproven accusations, Tester's career in question now...Dr. Jackson would not play this Senator's and others, the disgusting game of identity politics.

I am very grateful to have Mike Pompeo, a man with enormous character as part of my Government. !

The presidents generally get these types of nominations rubber stamped. The Democrats have been utilizing tactics to slow things to a crawl. The Republican leadership has sat on their hands in response.

Trump does not have motivated energetic allies in the Senate leadership.

If he did, they would have broken up this go slow process mid last year.

They just don’t give a damn that we only have an open window for a limited time.

Good luck Mr. President.

Screw you Mitch. Ryan, retire already...

I’m wondering how the Hag of Aroostook County, Sen. Collins, cast her vote.

Your MSM at work--the first words in the story: "The split vote represents the political scrutiny Pompeo is likely to encounter..."

It SHOULD read: "The split vote represents the political scrutiny every Trump appointee has and will receive from highly partisan Democrats..."

"All Dem cowards trying to win reelection in 2018."

Maybe...all Democrats should have voted yea after Senator Jon Tester's unproven/vetted lies about Dr. Jackson destroyed any creditably the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee might have enjoyed....Testor is a bitter, snake in the grass politician.

Good news - was watching Fox when they announced it and denounced those going after the Doctor/Admiral from sniper positions instead of actually giving any real facts.....there are a few Fox shows still worth watching...

The Dems still can’t take away the stain of voting AGAINST tax cuts. Their opponents should rub their noses in that without mercy.

Did you ever notice how almost every Republican nominee is voted almost along party lines and democrap nominees get smooth sailing? I would like to see the breakdown in votes sometime.

42 voted as they were told to do. They are part of the resistance. They do not care about the United States, only the party.
