Was it really just a test or are they trying to cover up how they missed the caravan?

Vandenberg AFB has been launching “test” missiles for decades.
They aren’t “test” missiles as we normally think of them - something new being tested. They are “testing” the overall reliability of our ICBMs. The Minuteman III (LGM-30G) entered service in 1970. From Wikipedia “Minuteman-III missiles are regularly tested with launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base in order to validate the effectiveness, readiness, and accuracy of the weapon system, as well as to support the system’s primary purpose, nuclear deterrence.[42]”
