during a Tuesday interview with SiriusXM hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak on Breitbart News Tonight. Mansour asked Cruz, Would you be supportive of President Trump if he ran for reelection in 2020?
Cruz replied, I certainly assume so. I was supportive of and campaigned for President Trump in 2016, and I am very encouraged with the substantive policy victories we are getting, whether it is an historic tax cut bill, whether it is regulatory reform thats unleashing jobs, whether it is repealing the Obamacare individual mandate which I led the fight to do in the United States Senate whether it is nominating and confirming strong constitutionalists to the courts. On all of those fights Ive been working to lead the battle. Im content to continue working to lead that battle and defend our freedoms and defend the Constitution.

During the 2016 election, Cruz initially opted against endorsing Trump after Trump secured the Republican Partys nomination following a heated primary race that pitted the Texas senator against the New York real estate mogul. Republican convention goers booed Cruz during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, when he advised them to vote your conscience. Two months later, he endorsed Trump and assisted his presidential campaign.
Never Trump media figures lamented Cruzs support for Trumps campaign. Glenn Beck, a fervent Cruz supporter during the 2016 primary, described himself as profoundly sad following Cruzs endorsement of Trump, whom Beck strongly opposed. Beck later described America as a petulant child worthy of divine punishment for making the wrong choice in nominating Trump.
Since the election, Cruz has largely supported Trumps policies and agenda

Cruz has looked around and seen that both Ryan and Gowdy have suddenly decided they’d like to spend more time with their families. Cruz is not ready to retire to spend more time with his family yet, and is smart enough to know he has no political future if he doesn’t support Trump. Nothing more to it than that.
Trump turned Michigan.
Pence helped.
And so did Cruz.
Ten thousand votes. Not a lot.
We needed all the help we could get. And Cruz helped. He’s been one of the top handful of senators allied with the Trump agenda.
Save your anger for those asshat nevertrumpers that never helped and still don’t.
Again, you confirm my analysis of Cruz-haters.
To argue with a man who has renounced the use and authority of reason, and whose philosophy consists in holding humanity in contempt, is like administering medicine to the dead, or endeavoring to convert an atheist by scripture.

I don’t think he ever got the full airing his candidacy called for. Some of us graced him in at the beginning, accepting his lily white claims.
By the time we’d had enough, we simply withdrew our support for the most part. He really wasn’t vetted in the real sense like Trump was.
At one point, I was repulsed by the thought of him being our nominee. I never really tried to find every bit of dirt on him, but it seemed there was more out there than we heard about. One day we make be shocked.
Even when his daughter violently refused to let him kiss her on the cheek, I stated that young teenagers are sometimes that way, if they get upset. I don’t know what her problem was, but it sure stays in my memory. It was troubling even if I thought there might be some reasoned explanations for it.
I am still uncomfortable with him being in the government today.
I may have to put up with that feeling for decades to come.
I’ll be voting to re- elect Senator Cruz in Texas this year.

Above shows Cruz’s voting record to be about 92% in agreement with the President. Cruz did not want the 2018 Appropriations Bill or a couple of budget extensions to keep the government running for a week or two; Cruz was against the immigration bill (DACA); Cruz wanted to impose sanctions on N. Korea and Russia, and Cruz opposed the sales of some arms to Saudi Arabia.
Other than that he has been voting with President Trump.
He did not campaign for Trump in 2016! I went to several events where Cruz was the speaker along with his Papa in 2016 after Trump got the nomination and they didn’t say one thing that was supportive of Trump and didn’t even mention his name!
And on the points of disagreement, Cruz was right.
But that's not good enough. It's never good enough. We must HATE the eeeevul CROOOOOOZE. HATEHATEHATE!!!
Levin and Cruz cut their bridges.
Cruz is still lying about his role in government even now.
Cruz did not help Trump. Sorry, that’s the truth.
You don’t know for certain how many votes were gained during that process. The claim of 10,000 is imaginary. What it seemed like, is not what it was. The 10,000 may have been imaginary. We don’t really know.
I won’t give Cruz any credit for the Trump win. He didn’t go through the state over a number of days, and of the three campaign stops he attended, he refused to endorse Trump by name.
None the less you are inclined to praise him for the Trump victory.
Why do I object to this rosy description of Cruz’s efforts, because it’s ludicrous to give Ted that credit for about six hours of effort in about 100 days. Further, at most he would have addressed the crowd at the two rallies where he did use Trump’s name, for only about 15 minutes each. Even if we grace him in by saying he talked for 30 minutes each, that’s one hour on one day.
So in reality he spend 1.5 hours making phone calls, and 1 hour making oral presentations to the public.
For 1 hour on November 4th, you want to credit him for winning the Michigan election for Trump.
Sorry, but 2.5 hours of actual work in about 100 days...
No freakin way.
You and I support Trump. We’ll have to leave it at that.
Read Ted’s own comments were he claims he’s leading out in everything, and note what he credited Trump leading out with.
N O T H I N G !
He’s still an attention hog, and unwilling to give Trump specific credit. We is as close as he comes to it. That’s really shameful considering how hard Trump has worked to achieve what he has do far.
Is Ted a cog in the wheel now? Sure. So are many other people. I don’t hear them taking all the credit.
Must be frustrating living in California and unable to vote for the dem opponent of Cruz.
Condolences.
MAGA
You have been in denial for the last 2 or 3 hours.
You’ve been soundly put in your place on the issue of Cruz not supporting Trump.
I know you have a puffed up view of Cruz, but for the record, he is not as important as Trump. If he wasn’t in the Senate another Senator would step forward to lead. No big deal...
If every Conservative had acted like Ted did in 2016, Hillary Clinton would be president right now.
Even if Ted loses in 2018, the damage would not be critical. Democrats have far more Senators up for election that Republicans do. The Dems are at a statistical disadvantage.
You’ve been cut off at every turn in this discussion. Now you’re still dropping in the disparage me for not supporting Cruz, and have not to this point mentioned Cruz’s lack of support for Trump.
You could acknowledge your situation with some grace. You could simply leave. Staying and tossing darts at someone who was right all along, seems rather self-defeatist.
I will continue to out Ted Cruz for the slug he is. You can either accept this, or grind away over it.
I don’t give credit for the win to any one other than Trump.
If Cruz had not changed his tune, and had continued his asshatery of the convention, I would share your anger.
He didn’t. Instead, he helped. It’s likely he changed the minds of a lot of his nevertrump supporters, how many we will never know.
I don’t want him for President, Trump is awesome. Cruz is a good supporter now, and has been since the last week of the campaign.
Let it go. Attack those who are more deserving. McCain, flake, corker, Kristol, Goldberg, and the other phonies.
Here’s Ted Cruz’s voting record.

Deal with it.
Your insane and idiotic hatred is pathetic. Go hang out with Schumer and McConnell ... they hate Cruz same as you
I voted for Trump and put that Cruz pipe dream to rest.
If you read this thread, you will read where I stated I do not advocate folks not vote for him in the election.
The time to replace him was in the primary.
Here are two posts that may help you understand why I am taking Ted to task AGAIN!

We are disagreeing, that’s all.
I am happy to agree with him about Trump. He’s been one of the top Trump supporters on the forum, and I appreciate that.
I just demonstrated to you that he spent 2.5 hours out of 100 days actually helping Trump.
None the less, you claim this rehabbed him.
Lakeshark, give it a rest.
Not it a reasonable statement
I currently assume I will support Trump in 2020 but if he suddenly signed a massive tax hike and sent 75000 US Troops to Syria, I would have ever reason to change my mind.
Cruz gave an honest answer. I applaud him for it.
Changed the subject huh?
LOL
You poor thing.
Here he claims he’s leading out with judicial nominations. Could you please let me know what judicial nominations he made. He can only lead out with the confirmation process.
