A Baptist pastor in Dallas is facing some harsh realities more than a year after leading his congregation to affirm homosexuality.
In November 2016, Wilshire Baptist Church voted to extend membership to those involved in the homosexual lifestyle. The church's slogan is now "Open to all, closed to none."
The action prompted the Baptist General Convention of Texas to sever ties with the church. A year later, Chelsen Vicari decided to contact senior pastor George Mason to see how the church has been affected by the change.

This pastor lacks moral courage
Most churches I know of follow the same course; love the sinner, hate the sin and all that. But if I'm reading this article correctly the church is in trouble for even allowing gay people to be members.
The community of the church SHOULD be a bulwark against the world, insulated from the wicked, willful sinners like open, advocating homosexuals. After all, there are a lot of spiritual babies there. Should we allow ravening wolves to roam the nursery?
Therefore, I believe the vast majority of witnessing and admonition to the lost should be done on the neutral streets, in our daily lives. We go to church to recharge with others who, though beset with sins, come to confess these to one another as such, and who seek the Lord's help in being delivered from them.
Then, we are recharged to do battle in the world.
They always leave out the “go and sin no more” part.
Yup.
Most liberals are secular. Some belong to mainline churches.
Religious people aren’t satisfied with liberal religion.
You can be too inclusive if you don’t preach the need to adhere to common values.
And if nobody subscribes to them, what’s the point of religion?
Not only irreligious, but blasphemous, even while holding their "form of godliness" in parody churches.
When Tarleton State University in Texas Refused to allow a production of "Corpus Christi," a play blasphemously depicting Jesus and his disciples as a bunch of sexually active homosexuals, the large queer "church" in Dallas eagerly invited the students to use their facilities as an alternative venue.
I had to read it twice. Rejection of homosexual behavior as acceptable is what Vicari was praying for, in order that the church spread the gospel “without compromise.”
Must be nice to go to a church without any sinners in it.
A still dead soul leading a local ekklesia, embracing what God has defined as an abomination in His sight. And now the dead soul pastor rgerets the embrace? Son, GOD is not mocked. You are under the Party Central sentence: Mene mene tekel upharsin. Get on your knees man, not the media. ONLY Jesus can redeem you. The media serve the father of lies for whom you have been working.
In my denomination, anyone can attend, but in order to become a member, you have to be born again, and be able to tell the Elders when and how that came about. We’re all sinners, but if you’re flaunting your sin, are “in your face” about it, and are unrepentant, why would you even want to be there? We go to Church to hear the Word of God, and worship Him. We’re not all on the same level in our spiritual growth, but why go, if you don’t believe the Word preached? (Assuming you’re in a Church that preaches the Word.) Jesus didn’t turn people away, but He did tell them the Truth.
Why would you need to be careful how you say that? It’s obvious on it’s very face...homo perverts don’t exactly swarm into churches, and normal people don’t want to go to a church that welcomes perversion with open arms.
“Except the little part about affirming homosexuality, huh?”
My reading of her views is Vicari is not in favor of affirming homosexuality. She is praying the church will repent.
He didn’t say a church with no sinners. He said a church with “wicked and WILLFUL sinners advocating homosexuality”. WOuld you want to share church service with a child molester who saw nothing wrong with it, and insisted you accept and celebrate his sickness?
But nice strawman.
Big difference between accepting those who acknowledge and struggle with their sin and those who want the body to acknowledge and applaud the sin.
The church is a body of sinful people who have been redeemed and are growing in Christ. Homosexuals, murderers, thieves, idolators, workaholics, cheaters, liars, etc. We’re all in the church. But we are allowing the grace of God’s Spirit to daily renew and change us.
Heck, millennials dont even TIP let alone tithe.
Edit to add: millennials are cretinous
“open to all, closed to none.”
As a practicing satanist, I’ll come to your church and whizz in the baptismal fount. Is that ok with y’all?
