Tennessee Rep. Jim Cooper (D) called for limited access to military-grade assault weapons after a gunman reportedly opened fire at a Waffle House near Nashville, Tenn., killing four people.
Nashville woke up to devastating news. We mourn the innocent victims and thank our brave first responders. Many will say now is not the time to discuss change. But now IS the time, Cooper, who represents Tennessees fifth district, wrote on Twitter.
We can and must do everything possible to prevent these tragedies and keep Americans safe," he tweeted. "That starts with restricting widespread civilian access to military-grade assault weapons.

Police are searching for the suspected gunman who allegedly killed four people at the Waffle House, CNN reported.
A spokesperson for the Metro Nashville police said a restaurant customer stopped the shooting by rushing the gunman.
"He saw the gunman looking at his rifle. At that point, the shots had stopped. So he decided to rush the gunman, actually wrestled that assault rifle away, tossed it over the counter. At that point, the gunman then fled," said Don Aaron, according to the network.
The police department uploaded a photo of the assault-style rifle allegedly used to carry out the attack.
“...military-grade assault weapons...”
Another f*cking democrat assclown shows his ignorance and disdain for our rights.
One needs to ask these assclowns “So, what exactly do you and your party intend to DO to us once we’re disarmed?”
Assuming, of course, that we allow ourselves to BE disarmed in the first place, that is.
Political tags such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort. ---Robert A. Heinlein
Oh shut up, you as$hole.
the military uses semi automatic AR-15’s? (assuming that is what was used)
Another gungrabber thinking everything’s changed since Parkland and it’s now safe to to call for gun bans.
Why were the people in that Waffle House unarmed? There were 35 Tennesseans and not one had a gun.
More friggin’ lib-speak...”military grade assault weapons”.
As long as we let the left define the terms of the discussion, we will lose.
The AR-15 and its derivatives are NOT military-grade. And, they are NOT assault weapons. No more than any other firearm in existence, today.
We have allowed the left to co-opt the conversation for far too long. It’s time to throw it back in their faces EVERY time they use one of these terms.
He couldn’t wait until open of business on Monday?
Restrict Demonicrats, especially their access to weapons and the public. PAdded rooms would be appropriate.
I posted this also on the other thread:
My wife and I patronized that exact same Waffle House just a week ago yesterday.
We travelled to Nashville last weekend to visit my daughter and family who live a couple of miles from there. We got up early Saturday morning and went there for breakfast around 7:30am or so.
FWIW, it seemed safe enough at the time. Typical Waffle House for that hour of the day on Saturday. However, were both have CC permits and ALWAYS sit where at least one of us (usually me) can keep an eye on the door regardless of where were at.....just in case.
And to answer the question before its even asked: Yes. I would have shot him had it happened while we were there...assuming it went down the way its described.
They can “call” all they want.
Still have to take them.
This is a Right, and one which will not be surrendered, nor given away.
Good luck.
Heinlein was a brilliant man.
My understanding is that this killer fumbled in the operation of the rifle and that is what brought him down. I dont think AR-15s are any more useful in these shootings than a lot of other weapons, maybe less so than some. The main reason they use them is that they know it will get them more attention since the media and pols go nuts when they find out it was an AR-15.
Oh I think well lose. Idiots keep doing this on a weekly basis. Independents wont stand for it for long. How to stop them is never asked.
Well, virtually every dem can’t-i-date running for gov in Nevada is using the “BAN THE NRA” screed.
This country is going to get to the point where the only way we keep our guns is by using them and I damn the left to hell for when that day comes.
That includes pistols both semi and revolver, knives, 12 gauges, jeeps, trucks, etc.
The rifle used was only a tool; the assault came from the person using the tool. I guess that back in the day, the headline would be: “Cain killed Abel with an ASSAULT ROCK!”
