Cannabis is responsible for 91 per cent of cases where teenagers end up being treated for drug addiction, shocking new figures reveal...The findings also back up academic research, revealed in The Mail on Sunday over the past three years, that skunk is having a serious detrimental impact on the mental health of the young. At least two studies have shown repeated use triples the risk of psychosis, with sufferers repeatedly experiencing delusional thoughts. Some victims end up taking their own lives.

If you have a glass or two of wine with dinner after work, all is well. If you start drinking before breakfast and drink all day you’re in bad shape. Same with pot.
To: tuffydoodle
The statistic I read is that more than 10,000 people per year are killed by drunk driving. That doesnt say to me society can handle widespread intoxication. That's a terrible thing - yet in the big picture about 1 death in 300. And there's little reason to think banning alcohol would decrease this; nobody would ever call a cab to drive them home from an illegal speakeasy bar.

Thousands of people are killed every year by drunk drivers, far more than are killed by a random gunman, yet people are always screeching for gun control. I wonder why that is? Oh, call on me, I know! Because the vast majority of people in this country are boozehounds. And now they can be potheads too! Woooo hoooo, its gonna be a great future!Cheer up - our legal-alcohol present is really not all that bad (if you don't torture yourself over people enjoying themselves in ways of which you disapprove).

1. Wrong. The brain is famous for its ability to reroute, heal, compensate, and generally overcome injuries of many kinds.
2. Probably the kind of “rehab” which is an alternative to jail, and which probably is good for nothing else.
3. People who are going to be abusive and addictive will usually smoke, drink and inject many different things in due course. The “things” are not the root of the problem, the person is. Trying to prevent addiction by drug prohibition is precisely the same as trying to prevent shootings by gun prohibition - worse than useless.

I smoked daily from 71-85 and part time in 1990
I managed to graduate high school and college
Jackson Prep and Ole Miss respectively
I know probably 4-500 folks in passing socially and business and fellow southern kinfolks from Texas to Mississippi my home state to Nashville where I live to Atlanta and Florida and Michigan and California etc
I have maybe fifty friends and spouses ranging from 80 plus down to kids my daughters ages in late 20s I consider peers more or less
98-99 percent range from libertarian to alt right like me
I have a half dozen friends and kin who are liberals and two are hard left
Everyone has at least smoked pot and over half still do at least on occasion
Between 25-35 percent are regular users
Folks from car attendants and students who work for me up to business owners and lawyers and CPAs and doctors and healthcare executives and restaurant owners and even a few Nashville music celebs and one Hollywood movie producer of actual note
Pretty good cross section after all I am sixty
I simply dont have that experience that all pot smokers are antifa or lazy bums
Laura Ingraham who makes no attempt to hide she likes booze time is simply ignorant of that in which she speaks..
Her and her wannabe Shakespeare actor sidekick who is from New Orleans but apparently sure worked hard not to sound like it which doesnt sit well with me
Southerners in denial...pisses me off
Hippies at Dartmouth ...oh shes a lawyer you know......must have pissed in her punch

Sorry. I had to run and get some things done. I was replying with some dry, sour humor to what you wrote earlier. It was a morbid joke about letting the party animals kill themselves off with the harder drugs that are so easily available now. It's really sad. Ever laugh, when an unusually bad situation arrived?
"True. If they knew they could get it quickly at any grocery store or Qwik-E mart, theyd be far less anxious."
I'm acquainted with many of the people in my community, because I care about them in some ways. A local doctor's office looks like a Juggalo meeting on some days. They argue against the decreasing doses. It's obvious enough, what the condition of those poor people started with, and it wasn't physical pain. It's written all over them.
The economy and life in general can be better with healthier neighbors. Instead, I'm seeing a situation that looks like a genocide carried out by the victims against themselves. There's no economy except for the services maintained by big corporations, because there's no motivation.
It's probably getting to be more like Jamaica every year but without the big revenues from tourists. Is that a good fit for our culture? I don't think so.

Yeah. But you know that it's easier for them to decide to try something new, when they're high with an alcohol buzz to mellow the high.

There are lots of other ways to enjoy yourself besides getting wasted but hey, whatever floats your boat. Isn’t it funny how people assume that if you don’t get high or drunk than you are a “joyless dick” or “need to cheer up”? Says a lot about today’s culture and where we are headed.

More like the clinics see another avenue to increase profits - they’d treat one for water or air addiction if they could.

Nobody assumed it? I was called a joyless dick and told I needed to cheer up. I simply have a difference of opinion and the stoners reaction is to call names and assume I’m “stressed.” You protest too much. As I said, if you want to get wasted and don’t care if the country is overrun by drunks and potheads, knock yourself out.

Nobody assumed it was because you dont get high or drunk.
the country is overrun by drunks
It's not and won't be (and no, I don't drink nor use pot).

The democrat party wants potheads as they are easy to control as they cannot hold down good jobs and will need govt assistance. They are also easily bought off with goodies and false liberties. Many in my neighborhood have no problem toking in front of their kids, even on the way to pick up their kids from elementary school.

It’s what we are discussing, getting wasted. Look, we are going back and forth needlessly. Lets agree to disagree.
