I believe that Jin overplayed the Kim hand bigly, Kim is not his own boss, even a little. That is probably why the climbdown could be so rapid. The Kims waving their arms had and have Chinese fingers inside.

Of course China is still playing the Game. But Trump is a better player.
Fat Boy is going to end up with US troops of some sort in Norkea. Trump knows and cares that there is no solution if Americans are not aground in Norkea to ensure the removal of all nuclear traces. Trump will NOT settle for a short term show of Improvement and a mere picture of solution as previous American presidents were.

Real integration of Norkea into Korea Entire would be a much heavier drag on the South Korean economy than East Germany was on the West German economy. Real integration has to be delayed for a full generation to bring the northerners up to par educationally and especially nutritionally with the southerners first.

As much as I hated the recent omnibus spending bill, I have no doubt the 600 billion increase contributed to NK’s attitude change. No wonder Trump (reluctantly) signed it.
Combined with Trump’s recent missile strikes in Syria. Shows he don’t bluff (even though I’m not convinced who gassed who).
Trump knows what he’s doing, and I trust him.
Trump is smarter than all that. There will be an enforceable and enforced deal or there ill be no more Norkea. Kim has been offered something very pleasant for himself in exchange for South Korea not becoming an island.
