but Duckworth argued that the ban doesn’t support working parents who can’t be away from an infant Freaking spare me. You don't need to be tied at the hip with your newborn 24/7 Tammy. A baby can spend a couple hours away from you while you are on the Senate floor. And if that means that you spend less time on the Senate floor, good. No one wants to see you anyway.

On days that all members are allowed to bring kids, this would be fine. But otherwise, this is the workplace, your special place for a government, and legislators. She can leave her kid at home, with her husband, or family.

If she were a heart surgeon, could she bring her newborn into the operating theater? If she were a coal miner, could she bring her newborn into the depths of the Earth? If she were an infantryman, could she bring her newborn along for the mission?
What makes her think being a Senator is any less important of a job? What makes her think being a Senator allows for more distraction? What makes her think the Senate floor is an acceptable day care? What makes her think it's okay to interfere with other Senators more serious than she about the work at hand.
Clearly, she is the wrong person for such an important position.
