PHILADELPHIA (AP) A Southwest Airlines jet made an emergency landing at Philadelphia's airport Tuesday with part of the covering from its left engine ripped off and a window damaged.
Passengers walked off the 737 plane onto the tarmac at the airport. It wasn't immediately known if anyone on board was injured. Southwest Airlines said there were 143 passengers and five crewmembers on board.

originally, some news sources were reporting that the woman was removed from the plane by emergency services, not passengers - not hard to imagine because she was probably frozen solid at altitude of 35,000+ feet - flight was planned for altitude of 38,000 feet
Quite the picture, no idea. I do wonder if this will alter Southwest’s plans to have Hawaii routes next year...imagine this happening somewhere between LA and Honolulu?
Very sad news.
Very tragic situation.
Crap, I just read that.
This talks about an incident where a pilot partially flew out of the cockpit. Hair-raising story!

True, but the flight time from DFW to AUS is about 30 minutes. You take off and while climbing to Cruise Altitude for about 5 mins there and then start lining up for landing as the Cabin Crew is doing a high speed Beverage Service cleanup and stowing the Service Cart.
As far as E-Landing sites they would be Waco or Killeen/Ft. Hood as far as I know.
The loose screws (besides Me) were 4 or 5 in a panel with 25 plus total screws. It was a 737 so FOD wasn’t a concern in My head. I was more concerned with the rest of the Pax freaking out about it.
Prayers for the Family that lost a Loved one.
Just heard on 11 o’clock snewz that the Aircraft was serviced 2 days ago. Maybe a tool or scrap of Tie wire was inside and just took time to turn into FOD.
Somebody on FR was wondering about a Private Drone as a possibility but I don’t know if they can reach Angels 30K+ ?!?
Many lucky Pax and Crew on that flight. One fatality is bad but could have been much worse...
