I wouldn’t say they are all inert, chlorine is deadly in concentration. Other components would be harmless. Even chlorine, if dispersed over a wide enough area, would evaporate quickly without being lethal.
Its only a matter of time before our enemies start using the same tech on their missiles, and our own missile defense systems will be useless.
The caveat will be expense its far cheaper to send in a single aircraft caring many non-stealth missiles than one stealth missile.
Arguably, the time is here.
Russia has the P-800 Yakhont that has all the good stuff, and flies faster than Mach 3.
It is fairly certain that it will perform as advertised, as it was developed as a joint project with India and Germany (they call it BrahMos).
They are Thermonuclear capable, can talk to one another, swarm attack and change target and tactics mid flight.
Very hard to beat.
Less issues than to refurbish old obsolete stock?
Or the Russians did not want to reveal to us, at this time, the details of how the S-400 worked. I'm sure we had stealthy aircraft there, monitoring radar frequencies, checking to see at what ranges the S-400 would lock onto targets, and the performance of the anti-air missiles launched.
From all indications, the Ruskies never lit up the radars for them. Many of the UK and French planes were weasel equipped just in the event they did. Depending on tactics used, a weasel team can hit them between they first power on the radar and before the first missile is launched.
I hope they worked according to specs!
You; too?
Not too many workers about at 4 AM local time.
Pointy on one end and hot on the other.
No way, we’d never do that! That would be like cheating...!
As I told my wife Saturday morning, “I thought they could shoot down all of our missiles...” Hint: Tough to do if you can’t see them.
Russia may know how they fly, problem for Putin and the Soviet Union Russian Federation is they still can't do anything about them with their 40+ year old technology.
It isn’t all a one way street, though. We undoubtedly learned something about their defenses by firing the new missiles at them. Sometimes that is just as valuable as the “surprise” obtained by never using them.
LOL, let’s buy a bunch and then shoot all the 10th missiles!
See? Modern warfare doesn’t cost anything at all!!!!!
Raytheon knew hillery would sell their technology to the highest bidder. just like back in the day!
It's never a one way street, any Military worth it's salt is always gathering technological intelligence along with all the other.
Both sides try to get the other to spin up their best stuff so they can suck it all up and spit out the best ECM they can build, then do it again.
Exactly.
I read something the other day about these Russian weapons, and said they may be impossible to defend against.
One has to only know history to realize that “impossibility” is completely absurd.
The history of warfare is weapons being used with effect, weapons being neutralized, and new weapons developed.
Any weapon may be defeated. It may take time. It may take money. But any weapon made can be countered...even if it cannot be countered today.
I'm convinced!!
LOL, great website, Elsie! I always thought it was funny that they put Patton in charge of the largest, most inert army in the history of the world!
