President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, asked a federal judge in Manhattan on Friday to block the Justice Department from reading documents related to his decade-long legal representation of Mr. Trump and that were taken in a recent F.B.I. raid.
The hurriedly scheduled court appearance reflected the unease and worry inside Mr. Trump’s inner circle over this week’s raids. The documents could shed light on the president’s relationship with an adviser who has helped steer him through some of his thorniest personal and business dilemmas.
A lawyer representing Mr. Trump’s interest in the case also appeared, and asked a judge to order the Justice Department to temporarily delay looking at the files until the matter could be litigated.
“Those searches have been executed and the evidence is locked down. I’m not trying to delay,” Joanna C. Hendon, an attorney for Mr. Trump, said during the hearing on Friday. “I’m just trying to ensure that it’s done scrupulously.”
Mr. Cohen wants his lawyers to be able to review the files and withhold privileged material before prosecutors can see them. As an alternative, he asked that an independent lawyer be allowed to review the files first. A judge postponed any decision until a follow-up hearing Monday.

Pointless. Copies have been made and distributed to key Swamp members, ABC, CBS, CNN and the New York Times.
This gives precedent to ignoring attorney/client privilege in any future case...

Nunes should subpoena docs from DOJ and then just have federal marshalls go in and grab everything. Tell Rosenstein that they’ll get back what isn’t needed, in a week or so.
I thought Mulvaney’s remarks to Elizabeth Warren yesterday were very interesting.
Mulvaney is now head of some stupid banking commission and Congress has no oversight over it. Mulvaney apparently told everyone how stupid this was when they were setting up the commission. But Democrats were sure they would always be in charge of everything, so they went ahead. And Ta-Daa! Now Mulvaney is the head. He was brutal yesterday, Basically, “I can do whatever I want and you can’t touch me!”
If the worm turns and Trump goes after Obama and Hillary, there are a bunch of lawyers who should expect to be raided. The Democrats have opened that door, as long as the Republicans are willing to walk through it. Mulvaney was. Quite gleefully.
I don’t know how the President can put up with this crap. An abuse of the 4th Amendment, client/attorney privilege and there is no public outcry?
How is this America anymore? The left hates Trump that bad that bad that they don’t mind that his constitutional rights are violated - especially on a non-punishable supposed offense.
Note that the ACLU basically came out in support of the raid of Cohen’s office. They were fine with violating attorney-client privilege if it would help get Trump. The hatred is indeed deep.
Even if every single page and recording is excluded from "evidence" in a courtroom...it will still be made public via the Deep State Times and Post.

A court appointed master should be reviewing these documents, not some branch of the FBI, especially a branch acting like highschoolers that think leaking documents is sport.
