GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A Gwinnett County man released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody to help care for his medically-challenged child does not have the OK to stay.
He's now being told to leave the country on his own or be picked up again.
Channel 2s Tony Thomas first brought the story to officials in March, which then the 44-year-old father was immediately released from ICE custody.
The family thought he'd be able to stay and help care for his daughter, but now the family said they're being told he must leave by June 20.
If I decide I dont do that, they are going to take me from my house, from my apartment. It's not good decision for me and my family, Juan Carlos Paez said using a translator.
Paez said he doesn't want to hide from authorities, but he's not sure how he will be able to follow their orders, and make sure his wife and children, especially medically fragile daughter Naylea, survive.
They asked him to buy airplane tickets to go out to Mexico, Paez said using a translator.
The family said Naylea has Proteus Syndrome. She can't walk, talk or feed herself. And they insist the medical care she needs isnt available in Mexico. And her mother can't support herself and care for Naylea alone.
We are here asking for help, asking for mercy, the mother said using a translator.
The family came to congressman Robert Woodalls Gwinnett district office Thursday, hoping the representative's aides could help pressure immigration officials.
But they hit a snag when they realized they actually live in congressman Hank Johnson's district.
Woodalls staff emailed saying they referred the case to Johnson's office and said our goal is to make sure that federal agencies and regulations are working for congressman Woodalls constituents and not against them."
I want the best for them. If I have to go I have to go, Paez said using a translator.
ICE had previously had Paez under a deportation order after he was arrested for driving without a license, but that order was in effect suspended for several years.
They have over two months to find medical care in Mexico.
There’s always some excuse, isn’t there?
71 countries have better health care than the US. They should go to one of those. There solved.
“It’s not good decision for me and my family, Juan Carlos Paez said using a translator.”
My tax dollars paying for you and your illegal brood isn’t a good decision for MY family, Senor Paez.
“And they insist the medical care she needs isnt available in Mexico.”
Impossible, the lefties always tell us we have the worst healthcare system in the world. Mexico is a socialist country so obviously they are much better.
Sorry, America is broke and we can’t afford any more welfare. We’d rather spend whatever we can afford on the American families.
they actually live in congressman Hank Johnson’s district.
Wonder why our county hasn’t tipped over yet.
And yet, they flock here, so that... they can complain?
Get out.
L
Send the whole family back to their own country!
Ship them off to Cuba-————superb medical care./s
.
As a father I can understand his dilemma. As an American I also understand he broke the law coming here and we the taxpayers are supporting him and his family.
As an American I feel anyone who is here in the USA illegally should be deported back to the country they came from. If you want to become a US citizen fine, do it the right way. We are a nation of immigrants but the majority of us immigrated legally to the US. I have employees who are now US citizens but it took them years, they did have resident alien status.
We should be required to E-verify everyone including the construction workers who skirt the system by getting a federal tax id number in order to be paid for work here.
so the question..... Are Georgia Americans required to provide upkeep for a defective illegal alien?
I am an elderly taxpayer whom doesn’t expect to live forever in this body and certainly not at the expense of others livelyhoods. Look at my screen name...
Gwinnett County Georgia has been completely destroyed by illegal and semi-legal immigration over the past 20 years. It was once a place to escape to, now? When you see a Gwinnett County school bus drive past, there are no American’s aboard.
You an expect and endless parade of these sob stories from the MSM.
Missing from their reporting will be all reference to any MS13 gang members being deported.
As far as the MSM is concerned, only those whose heart-wrenching stories are being deported.
They will run every sob story they can find to keep the illegal Democrats in the country.
“Defective” that is a horrible word to use for a human being with a medical condition. I would not be opposed to the daughter staying if payment of her care could be guaranteed by private parties. Once stable and sure that care was available she and her mom would be sent back to Mexico. The other solution would be for the parents to give her up for adoption by a U.S. couple (if that is possible). But allowing her to stay indefinitely while taxpayers foot the bill for medical care is not an option.
” but he’s not sure how he will be able to ..... make sure his wife and children, especially medically fragile daughter Naylea, survive.”
Right /s. Here in the US of A, we just let women and medically fragile children DIE!
Wait.. while I call YOU, Juan, a wambulance.
This is just a “let me tug on your heart strings” excuse.
Everybody has one.
