Attorney General Ken Paxton announced today that his offices prosecution of Backpage.com has resulted in the company pleading guilty to human trafficking in Texas and its CEO Carl Ferrer pleading guilty to money laundering. This comes less than a week after the attorney generals office assisted the Department of Justice with permanently shutting down the website.
Ferrer will be sentenced to up to five years in prison once hes fulfilled the terms of his plea agreement with Attorney General Paxtons office. His cooperation in the ongoing investigation into Backpage could lead to other criminal charges against individuals associated with the company.

It was fast
And yet they can’t figure out the Clinton Foundation, Obama, Bobby Menendez, etc
Hookers went out of business fast....backpage and craigslist was their main advertising source.
Yes, incredibly fast. Paxton and the current Texas state government dont mess around. This quick result and plea agreement almost certainly mean that the websites owners are now cooperating with the state government (and possibly with some feds assuming that Texas has identified some uncorrupted/honest ones) in going after the Backpage users who have been involved in trafficking and other bad actions.
HOORAY Texas AG Ken Paxton!
Now the womans march gals are complaining Backpage was taken down......go figure!
Human trafficking should be punished by death.
Someone overseas will simply make a site where prostitution is legal.
All this accomplishes is moving more American money offshore
What does he know about the Clintons and Podesta?
Rosanne Barr was not mistaken when she said Trump is saving hundreds of kids.
They're also texting all their customers to make sure everyone's got their phone numbers.
But a lot of girls are already out on the street because they have no money to pay for a room to do carry on their business.
You seem to know a lot about this matter....
That would be the Texas attorney general Paxton, not Sessions...
In the Old Testament, what we call human trafficking was punishable by death.
:-)
Those websites are about to be hit hard.
Problem is in Houston and Dallas just about every shopping center has Asian massage parl...therapists, yeah that’s it.
Most are unlicensed. Those mamasans are about to get lots of applicants.
Local news and the Houston Chronicle like to run stories about the busts, Chronicle even runs the mugshots for the clicks.
But most of the girls on back page are just trying to make a living as single moms. Most are not educated. They're working for themselves and are not involved in the child trafficking allegations.
Someone, somewhere will find a way to put up a site so that these girls can advertise their wares. Off-shore maybe, disguised as something else.
Escorts, prostitutes, ladies of the night, whatever you want to call them, have been around since the dawn of time and always will be. They have plenty of customers.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
Yup, most of them are not 'trafficed' that's just a buzzword that Vice uses to justify them not doing the tougher busts like meth houses.
Asian grannies are less likely to shoot back.
And you forgot President Trump's Executive Order on trafficking.
