Novichok used in spy poisoning, chemical weapons watchdog confirms
The Guardian ^ | April 12th 2018 | Patrick Greenfield

The international chemical weapons watchdog has backed Britain’s findings on the identity of the chemical used in the Salisbury nerve agent attack.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said an analysis of samples taken from the Russian former spy Sergei Skripal, his daughter Yulia, and Det Sgt Nick Bailey confirmed the assessment of the UK, which has said that the three were affected by novichok, a military grade nerve agent developed by Russia.

The executive summary released by the OPCW does not mention novichok by name, but states: “The results of the analysis by the OPCW designated laboratories of environmental and biomedical samples collected by the OPCW team confirms the findings of the United Kingdom relating to the identity of the toxic chemical that was used in Salisbury and severely injured three people.”

Prohibition has never worked. Someone always refuses to abide by the rules.

Check out the agency, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

This whole thing STINKS of a set-up.

The Russians seem to have a different view of this report.

OPCW is a legitimate international organization made up of world class scientists and laboratories. Their findings should be taken seriously.

Many questions about the Skripal case remain and British foot dragging is still an impediment, but at least there has been some independent confirmation of the class of nerve agent used.

... the OPCW does not mention novichok by name...

Then why does the headline say it does?

Novichok is the most deadly nerve agent yet Skripal’s daughter is able to walk out of the hospital. Something smells.

I highly suspect Russian involvement.

HOWEVER, mere identification of the nerve agent and the original sources of that nerve agent, does not identify who possessed it and who delivered it in this case.

The U.K. is a hotbed of Russian intrigue, including Russian born expats and Russian mobsters, in addition to current Russian citizens (many oligarchs), Russian intelligence agents, and Russian-U.K. double agents, and third-country residents of the U.K. working for Russian intelligence as well as Brits and third-country residents of the U.K. working undercover for the U.K. in all the groups I just described.

Many different non-governmental feuds between the various Russians in the U.K. can be in progress at any given time. And, with all the interconnections at some point between many of them, such feuds can involve former Russian officials who have defected.

I have no evidence at all as to who delivered the nerve agent.

But I think the U.K. would be lying if they were to say there is no way but by Putin’s command that it could have been delivered. “Likely” seems to be the best they can do, and that “likely” having covered all else that there intelligence community knows about the whole “Russian scene” in the U.K.

What they really need is a Mueller who could pull into Grand Juries the entire Russian community (yes, “guilt by association as Mueller has done) in the U.K., find every spec of dirt that could be interpreted as a “crime” on each and every one of them, and squeeze them all until someone talks.

Oh wait, the U.K. no longer can do that. They already likely sent the “trigger man” back to Russia when they expelled Russian officials over the incident. No doubt that is what Putin wanted and expected.

Developed by Russia and administered by Russia are two different things. Algore invented the information super highway but look how many folks around the world are using it. By the UK’s stance, Russia is guilty until proven innocent. And just who exactly is Russia? Putin? Or is Putin being set up? Can’t go around blaming him willy nilly unless there is solid proof he specifically ordered the hit.

Oh, to have one day without seeing Russia in the headlines.

A least one other _friendly_ agency had full access to Novichok; can you guess the three letter name?

It makes me shudder to think we have CIA agents who follow liberal fascist Brennan’s orders still, wandering around ready to drop poison in a Presidential drink. The liberal fascist Obama crime syndicate mob is a threat to America. May PDJT rid us of them all.

I would share your scepticism if there were no more evidence than has thus fas been made public. It seems, however, improbable in the extreme that the 24 (I think) countries which immediately signed up to sanctions would have done so if that’s all the evidence there was. They include a number of countries with no particular reason to do the UK a favour at a time of strained relations over Brexit and, for instance, Germany, which has usually positioned itself as Putin’s best friend in Western Europe.
It therefore seems probable that they were shown confidential evidence of a more direct link with the Russian state, that evidence for whatever reason yet to be made public.

“It therefore seems probable that they were shown confidential evidence of a more direct link with the Russian state, that evidence for whatever reason yet to be made public.”

Or they (the EU members) are trying to promote “rapproachement” with the U.K. in hopes of coaxing them into continued sharing of more EU dictates in the post-Brexit deal with them.
