Moscow will shoot down any U.S. missiles fired at Syria and retaliate against American launch sites, the Russian ambassador to Lebanon has warned.

Ambassador Alexander Zasypkin made the comments on Tuesday while speaking on the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV channel, Reuters reported.

President Donald Trump is currently considering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad following Saturday’s suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital city of Damascus. Medical relief groups say the attack killed dozens of civilians.

Well if Syria did NOT do this, and they are being set up to take the fall, they still deserve it for doing it previously to the Kurds and others. America will take a hit if we respond, and those parents with children serving in the military there, must be going through hell at the thought of their children in such danger. Syria has gone over the “red line” ineffectual Obummer put in the sand once too often. Hope and pray this can be resolved for the sake of our U.S. service men and women, but don’t know how we can get out of retaliation.

But you saw how quickly we ramped up, and Russia could certainly do the same.

Ramp up with what?

The skilled workers for Sukhoi and Mig and other Soviet equipment makers have moved on long ago, there simply weren't enough orders for the stuff.

3rd world countries that have to settle for ex-Soviet equipment buy it 3rd, 4th or 5th hand.

And for that matter could we still ramp up with the shrinking military shipyards and factories that we've been dealing with for over 20 years?

Their workers have moved on too.

Okay... that’s it. I’m surrendering. Just take my gun, send me to prison, awaiting firing squad.

The thing about risk is that it’s only half of the risk/reward equation.

What’s the reward that’s worth the risk to everything we hold dear? I’m finding it quite difficult to believe that being top dog requires military action against Syria.

You got some nerve, Mr. Johnny-come-lately, to cast aspersions on people who were in the trenches long before you ever came to the neighborhood.

We'd be better off if Trump is able to demonstrate that the Czar Putin has no clothes.

8 years of Obama capitulating to him has put us in a spot.

I am not willing to trade one serviceman for all the Syrians.

My and my father's generation lost enough young men saving other people from themselves.

This is us bailing out Europe so they escape Putin bullying over energy, raising prices etc. And he has been a terrible Gazprom bully.
Nonetheless we are helping Europe and many of them are not out there helping. So I hope Trump got some cash for this venture.

Yes. Risk assessment is actually part of my duties where I work.

The funny thing about risk assessment is that people often only think of two aspects:
1. What is the downside of the risk?
2. What is the likelyhood of the risk happening?

What is ignored by most is the third aspect:
1. What is the COST of mitigation?

It’s why houses are not hardened against a meteor strike. The downside of a meteor strike is HUGE. The likelihood of it happening is minuscule, and the cost of mitigation is astronomical. So we take the risk.

And when people talk about mitigating global warming, they always leave that third one out.

But yeah, I get your point about action against Syria. FWIW, I see it as a civil war and, therefore, none of our business. My comment was more along the lines of when it IS worth the risk.

Seems we blinked.

I’m at a complete loss why so many here are thirsty for more war. We have no stake in Syria; that is the rooskies partner and backyard, not ours.

you know, he just MIGHT have information that you are not privy to.

Yeah and as many friends an allies he has in DC there is no possibility that he has mis-information that we aren't privy to.

America should call for boycotting Russia soccer world cup.

Team USA failed to qualify. They wont be in the World Cup in any case.
