She filed a lawsuit against him. This is a counterclaim. Under the common law legal principle known as the "Doctrine of the Unclean Hands," this may just be a legal maneuver to get her lawsuit dismissed.
Basically, what he's saying is that she has no legal standing to sue him for defamation if she already defamed him.
