The US and Russia have traded barbs at a UN Security Council meeting on the alleged chemical attack in Syria.
Russian envoy Vassily Nebenzia said the incident in Douma was staged and that US military action in response could have "grave repercussions".
US Ambassador Nikki Haley said Russia had the "blood of Syrian children" on its hands.
Earlier, the UN human rights chief said world powers were treating chemical weapons use with a "collective shrug".

I'd like to see real proof as well and even if Assad did do it, I still wouldn't care. I just don't really have that much sympathy for al Qaeda, oops, I mean, "moderate Syrian rebels."

The US needs to publicly present the evidence that leads us to believe it was Assad.
How can we be so sure?

Where’s the evidence?
If we are going to attack a nation that has not attacked us or its neighbors, we should at least wait until there has been an open investigation of all the relevant evidence before an unbiased tribunal. Nikki Haley’s mouth is not enough.
Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria. Area of atrocity is in lockdown and encircled by Syrian Army, making it completely inaccessible to outside world. President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing Animal Assad. Big price to pay. Open area immediately for medical help and verification. Another humanitarian disaster for no reason whatsoever. SICK!

Verification of what?

1. Whether and what chemicals were used. And whether they can be traced.
2. What containers/munitions were used, and if they can be traced.
3. Any evidence of prior storage of chemicals in the affected area, and whether a conventional attack unleashed them.
4. Witnesses.
