The nascent New York gubernatorial bid of Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon hit a rough start in the polls.
I wondered initially if she was going to attempt to campaign in the more conservative haunts of upstate and how she might fare that far from her usual digs in Manhattan.
This week Nixon set out to answer that question, making campaign stops in Syracuse and Rochester.
In the latter appearance, she had a message for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Apparently, he’s not done enough to protect illegal aliens from the long arm of the law and if Nixon is elected she’ll make the Empire State a real sanctuary state in the model of California.

Unbelievable that people seeking office in the US can openly declare their support for illegal aliens over the citizens and the rule of law.
Rush should organize another operation Hillary and get this moonbat elected in the primary against Cuomo!
It’s mind boggling. But goes to show how removed from reality they really are. Unfortunately here in California they’re completely brainwashed in many places. But a few of us remain and we are NOT happy about this bizarre situation.

These big-cities are ruining the rest of the states. Either give Upstate NY their own state, or have a state electoral college system where the winner of Governor or Senator must win a majority of counties within that state. It's ridiculous for NYC to hold sway over the rest of the state.
Yuk it up, folks. You’re forgetting that most of Upstate is red. Apparently Upstate isn’t going to hell fast enough for Nixon.
And NYS is billions in debt. Where the heck Nixon thinks she’d get the money to pay for all this largesse is behind me.
Maybe this is just a big put-up job and she’s running to make Cuomo look more acceptable.

How are the NYS senate districts allocated by land area or population?
I could be wrong on this, but I bet it’s by population. Which I think is due to a 1960s USSC ruling. It should be by land area. That would dilute the effect of NYC.

I’m thinking the NY GOP foes too. In the last election the senior republicans sided with Cuomo over the GOP candidate. This year they have yet to even announce a single candidate. Maybe they will just endorse Cuomo.
NYS GOP is an acronymic oxymoron.
This is the same Cynthia Nixon who promised to move to Canada if Trump won.
