If @realDonaldTrump asks me to deploy Oregon Guard troops to the Mexico border, I’ll say no. As Commander of Oregon’s Guard, I’m deeply troubled by Trump’s plan to militarize our border.
There’s been no outreach by the President or federal officials, and I have no intention of allowing Oregon’s guard troops to be used to distract from his troubles in Washington.

IF you remember the 1890’s, you are very old. By the 1990’s it was effectively blue. Vic Atiyeh began his second term as governor in 1983. Since that time, 49 other states have elected Republican governors. The state did have two pub Senators, but they were incumbents who had been around since the 60’s. Gord Smith was a last gasp after Hatfield retired, but he was worthless. The last Republican to gain its electoral votes was Reagan.
Due to the concentration of blue votes in Portland, the Pubs did have some success in the legislature during the 90’s, but to call the state red at this time is too much.

If the Governor is a member of the Oregon Natinal Guard, which I would guess as its commander she is, the President could probably call HER into Federal service as well!

When guard units deploy to the ME it is under federal orders, not the stinking governor of the state.

It is the governor’s prerogative to refuse to deploy their guard.
It is the President’s prerogative to federalize their guard, at which point the governor is not longer in the chain of command.
