Depends on who your referring to as “we”. I think it’s a toss-up as to whether those Americans to be included are in the majority yet or not, but if they are it would be no surprise to me.
Seems the base axiom for posse comitatus is that the military “defends our borders” by killing would-be threats on _their_ soil, stopping threats before they can get to ours - leaving sheriffs et al to address domestic threats.
“Border patrol” is basically a compromise, doing militaristic national security under the premise of sheriff-type powers.
If the “but posse comitatus!” people press the issue, that will leave little other than a formal invasion of Mexico.
