Carr: Producer says powerful people tried to nix Chappaquiddick flick

So the producer of the new film about Ted Kennedy’s Chappaquiddick scandal says some “very powerful people” tried to kill his movie.
What a surprise — NOT!
“Unfortunately,” Byron Allen told Variety last week, “very powerful people tried to put pressure on me not to release this movie. They went out of their way to try and influence me in a negative way.”
Byron Allen is a TV comedian from the ’80s who has become a successful Hollywood mogul. He just bought what’s left of The Weather Channel for $300 million. By the way, he’s also black, so you would think that alone would endear him more than somewhat to the Kennedys, given their commitment to racial justice, which is quite exaggerated by the way.

Oh, yeah, the loathsome Chris Todd is head of the MPAA. Reporters need to ask very pointed and persistent questions about WHO tried to bury this movie!! I’ll bet it 2as Todd, with a cabal of others.

Yep, I recall the less than stellar reaction to that Kennedy kid who gave the State of the Union response for the Democrats. The Kennedy magic just isn’t there.

I almost felt bad for that 5th generation Kennedy kid they tossed out there for the Democrat response for SOTU. Whatever political career he had going for himself up to that point was vaporized. Remember that backdrop of a car with the hood up? Cringe-worthy.
I still think Trump snuck one of his people into the planning committee for that one.

Who is the guy on the right? I know I’ve seen him before but the name escapes me. Sort of looks like Mark Hammil (Luke from Star Wars) but that’s not him.

Ted Kennedy jumped on Obama’s bandwagon early and abandoned Hillary. So I doubt the Clintons were among the powerful who tried to kill the movie.

I can’t believe that I actually remember this from offhand but I remember that at the time the white man on the right was known as skip Stephenson.
The show was known as Real People and I believe that the competing popular show was That’s Incredible.
