Howard University students entered their fourth day of a protest Monday in which they occupied an administrative building and demanded campus police disarm.

"We demand the immediate disarming of campus police officers and the formation of a Police Oversight Committee controlled by students, faculty, staff, and off-campus community representatives," The Concerned Students of HU Resist wrote in a letter that has been shared over 2,500 times on Twitter.
The students want the committee to have authority over complaints filed against Howard University police officers, as well as the ability to review and advise the department's policies.

Back in an earlier century, the campus cops where I went to college had full arrest authority on campus pursuant to state law. But they cut a deal with the county sheriff who made them deputies (with no additional pay) which gave them full county wide authority. Some smart mouthed students just off the edge of campus had to learn about that one the hard way.

Just fire all the campus cops. Leave the snowflakes exposed....

Yes. Blacks demanding something of Blacks. That is a real switch.
I think Howard University should abolish its university police force and inform its students that they are “on their own” regarding their own safety.
Howard University is a black college.
Administrator needs to walk to the center of that hallway, and announce, “Your demands have been met, the police will no longer be armed; in fact, they won’t even be here anymore. Without being armed, for your protection, there’s no point in using University funds to pay them, so we’re dismissing all campus security, as of now.”.
Make it a “be careful what you ask for” moment, and let them suffer the consequences.
Well, either kick them out of school, or withdraw all campus security and police presence and let the chips fall where they may.
They’ll find out soon enough why armed law enforcement is a good idea.
From the article, they are demanding that THEIR security guards (whom, I assume, are also Black) be DISARMED.
You would think with crime at atronomical amounts in the black community that it would bother them. But no, they want cops disarmed.
Looks like Howard is going full Evergreen. Never go full Evergreen.
You know ... the ones that have to study.
Aren’t they missing classes? How does one earn a PHD in advanced rap lyrics, if they don’t attend class? Nevermind, I figured it out.
May they find their paradise in Liberia or points south.
Or the NBPP could show up with baseball bats like they do to "guard" the polls in Philthadelphia.

They are also in New Hampshire. This school is in DC.
Howard is a basket case of a university. They are so poorly mismanaged that very few suppliers will work with them because they don’t pay their bills on time. It can take months and months.
My Dad’s company years ago was begged to bid on a contract because the facilities department needed some equipment and no one would bid. His company bid the job at twice te going price with a 50% deposit required. They got their money eventually and made a huge profit in the job but when no one will do business with you, there is no competition.
Now that’s what I call a basket of “Deplorables”!
