The familys mixed races have fueled suspicion and anger about the crash, reflected in hundreds of comments left on Facebook postings mourning the family. Many of the comments questioned the motives of white women who adopted black children.
Meanwhile, those who knew the Harts described them as inspiring and devoted parents who had been unfairly subjected to criticism and assumptions about their motives for adopting the children. Friends also said that the couple tried to keep their children insulated from death threats and hateful emails prompted by the viral picture of Devonte.

So sticks and stones make break their bones, but names will make them murder their kids?
My instinctive feeling is that those children were being sexually abused.
I spent some time searching this family yesterday.
Their kids had asked neighbors for help repeatedly and one of the women had been charged with assaults for beating one of them when the girl was 7. Recently one of the boys had begged for food from the neighbors, asking that it be left in a box because he would be beaten if his Mother found out. He came multiple times to their house. One of the younger girls had jumped out the window and gone to a neighbor asking them to call child protective services because she was being starved & beaten.

Link with reference to the abuse I noted above. There are other stories that appear to be different neighbors with similar stories.
In this article:
“Officials say they tried unsuccessfully to reach the family three times to investigate but the neighbors say the family fled when a CPS worker showed up at their door Friday.”
The next morning when we saw that the vehicle was gone, and then Sunday morning when it still wasnt there, we figured something was off, Bruce DeKalb told local NBC affiliate KGW.”
That was immediately before the car went off the cliff.
Death threats in Portlandia as a homosexual couple? Right, they were most likely worshipped here.
Those poor kids. So sad.
This is a major major story and it’s being put on the back burner.
From the people who worship Evolution that for millions of years developed the two complimentary sexes with strengths and weaknesses to this tragic farce of two narcissistic solipsistic self centered women in a positive feed back loop of negative emotions.
I side with the black folk on this.
Article says three of the kids are still missing after the crash. Hope they’re safe somewhere.
The speculation is that the three missing kids were swept out to sea.

More interviews with the neighbors.
Sounds like they knew the jig was up and they were about to be caught and exposed as more than "loving lesbian parents".
As gory as this was, it's likely the unhappy couple and their adopted children died on impact or soon after. The vehicle appears to have landed on its roof, on rocks below the turnout.
With all the publicity this family has received over the years, mostly favorable, one has to wonder if there may be others in desperate need of counseling who view the Hart family's demise as a model for ending their own life.
Leave it to the media to turn this into a race thing, and to deliberately ignore the fact that it’s a lezzie thing.
Same-sex people should not be allowed to adopt. No further discussion is necessary.
I agree. They couldn’t face the music. It’s a shame they took the children with them. I think they didn’t want the world to know what they had done.
Just to be clear, that was a pick up truck (GMC), not an SUV.
I question the motives of these particular "white women" who adopted only black children. It seems to me that if they wanted an truly "inclusive" family they would have sought to adopt underprivileged/"at-risk" children regardless of race. They would not have gone on what, to all appearances, was a "black-kid shopping spree".
